Very nice bike handled well and had some go for a change, the clutch was playing up and the gearbox was notchey. I still prefer my GSXR1000 K5 although its nearly 3 yrs old, and 11000miles would still leave the Blade.
I had a ride and loved it, is the slipper clutch down to the dodgy clutch??
Hey Pete, long time no post! Hope all is well for you…
Honda gearboxes have always been a bit sloppy in my experience. Still, it didn’t stop Carlos Checa today!
I think slipper cuts in too early but still a very nice bike might think about one one day, my mates just bought new Busa and its quick big time. Whens LB coming down eerr ??
You guys are killing me!
Its had a wicked write up in this months Fast bike mag, knocked the gsxr1000 of the top spot. Handle and engine was awesome , Only bad thing they picked up on was the ugly looks! Which to me is a big thing!!
Don’t be silly. Have you taken your medication today? Knock the Gixxer off the top spot?
It must be true, it was in Fist Blokes Magazine;)
Maybe not K5/K6…K7?
new 10 kicks the gixxers butt too, on track anyway…
going to book into the inters/fast in april and give jay’s gixxer a run for his money on it then?
I dont need to prove anything about the 10 its already been done…think it was 2 seconds faster on track than the gixxer…but… it and the gixxer will always be better bikes than most of us can handle…will be interesting to get track times if we can though on the LB track day…remember I have only done one and a bit track days so a duel of novice against experienced wouldnt be a duel at all…I would win easy…
is the test who can spank it on its side the quickest then? i’d agree, you’ll win easily
yes, I am something of an expert now, green kawasaki’s are my speciality…
but I am not the only one…read bike magazine this month…they took their 10 for a slide too…they think they are experts too now…hmm:w00t:
do they leave a green streak along the floor like you slimed the tarmac? ;)yeah saw that, bike journos are masters at it -that one aint as bad as the journo last year that totalled Tambourini’s own top spec MV (number 12 of 30 or something, and he always takes number 12 i think the story went)
i aint laughing too hard tho mate - part of the reason i’ve got the pickup is that with the more track i do and more i try to push it the more i’m likely to join you :w00t:and i dont mean buying a kawacrappy
hey now your just getting cheeky, nowt wrong with my Kawasaki zx7r…okay it is a crappy, but it was just so that when I totalled it it wasnt a big deal…didnt expect to do that first time out though…bummer…
Hey depends how you ride, you push hard you will come off…you have to find the limits, I just thought the bike was better than me on this occasion I was wrong, my problem is I just get to those limits faster than most…
Doubt anyone that rides fast on track can stay on for always, there are many things that can catch you out…even just going steady I guess…I just got to remember I have a one or two people depending upon me to stay around…:w00t:
But am seriously thinking I need a better track day tool…
:Dblimey, ditching it already?:w00t:to be fair, you dont ‘have’ to find your limits. its just a trackday - supposed to be for fun!ride within your abilities (not just the bikes) and just enjoy yourself. you dont learn much from pushing too hard too soon - you make mistakes and dont know the ‘why’
tis so true some do some dont…if you do make sure the tyres are good and the brakes work…no not ditching it just considering that maybe I am used to either really old technology, or really modern technology, not really 90’s technology…and she is so heavy…but I will take her to Silverstone this month and take things a bit more steady this time, but definitely on new tyres and I have done as much as i can so far to the brakes, complete strip and clean and they are still spongy…no bite…so going to change the pads and then see how they go…will finally replace the master cylinder for one off a 10r if that fails…
Also making a lot of weight saving mods to it…track days are about having fun…and about going fast and learning and loads of stuff, your so right about not knowing why if something goes wrong. bad tyres likely, bad brakes yes…but was that all…hmm still not convinced one way or another…
We will see…am still going to go out and push but will be a bit more sensitive to things like temperature and tyre quality and keeping the tyres warm all day so they only get one cycle as the ones I have on now are clearly well past their sell by date etc etc…loads to learn…makes it all the more fun though…just got to try to stay on the wheels rather than the crash bungs and fairing…
2 strokes. on the brakes front if you’ve bled them and they are still spongy pull the lever in tight and stick a zip tie around it. leave it over night with the zip tie compressing the brakes. when you come back in the morning to take it off they’ll be as hard as nails. hope it helps.
you seen the pics link from the other thread? think this is you?
