Tentative Learner Legal ride idea to Butser neolithic farm

Id love to but im on my rideout to Rutland lakes that day.

Jim

you always seem to organise rides when i can`t do them, are you trying to say something.

The only mystery is why Jim waited two weeks before starting this thread!

Terry, I’ll let you know - probably yes, but I want to limit the numbers and the L-platers and new riders take priority on places. Added to that they’ve got to learn/practice being cornermen themselves!

Giuliano, I’ve been a bit busy in Belgium etc…

Trisckie, PM me with your location so we can arrange a meet-up to get to Ryka’s.

Jim, terry asked me last night to post up that he cant make this ride!! but i he is online now?? i think he is afraid to tell ya!

Adam I dont know if you’ve had a bit of shrapnel hit you in the brain when your on the front line dodging bullets, but I dont know wot your on about

And are you trying to frighten the learners by making Jim out to be some kind ogre

Jim - I was refering to your original post on this thread in April, and another, in another place by John two weeks earlier.

Well, whatever, ride is on, we just need some more learners or folk who’ve just passed their tests or just riders who’ve never been on a group ride to step forward and fill the places.

If Jim is able to lead people from the Hampton area to Rykas, I am more than happy to meet others somewhere around Wimbledon or Mitcham.

Bump - places still left.

What kind of speed will this ride be ? I am interested if I can make it but my 2 wheeled beast (well, Yamaha SR125) can only manage 60-65 flat out !

…and one more thing, I assume as this is learner legal that there won’t be motorways involved ?

Same bike as me - so you have no worries No motorways

Just cleared the date with the other half, and I’m in !!!

I think I live near Trisckie so if someone can lead us down it would be most appreciated

Am nowhere near you, you are east i am west, but am sure one of the lovely people over you way will escort you down to Boxhill and i will see you there

Saying that i am fairly familiar with your part of london.

Roll on the 29th

Oh right got my wires crossed !? doesn’t take much.

I could make my own way down, if anyone knows the best way from East/ North East London ?

This won’t be a tearing around at speed thing. There will be no motorways, and the route Jim has posted has very few dual carriageways. The intention is to ride sensibly, safely and legally.

There is my account of the last Learner Legal ride Jim organised here -

Giulliano is quite correct - there will be be no ‘hooning’ on this ride. If any ‘hooners’ accompanied us I bet they’d be hard pushed to get up to the posted (or not) speed limits anyway. This is a scenery and twisties route, and keep your eyes on the road ahead. Very good no-pressure practice for anyone.

A bit nearer the time I’ll post here my thoughts on group riding as it applies to this ride - nothing out of the ordinary or any ‘rules’ - but there are some conventions that should be considered whilst riding, mostly because they just ‘work’.

Jim. As this is no longer looking tentative, I think a new thread with date in the title is in order. What do you think?

I REALLY enjoyed the last one and if I can get a babysitter for one of my girlies I’d love to come too, but both my teenagers are probably out and about so don’t know if I can make it. If there are any places, could I tag along? Pretty please? Just pencil me in for the mo until I find out about the babysitting issue.

(This is where grandparents come in handy, just got to work on my daddy and see if he’s up for a quiet afternoon looking after a grand-daughter.)

Great! I can hand back your intercom thingy as well.
