We’re a team of 3 guys off to Africa in the 2012 Budapest to Bamako Rally, and if that doesnt sound challenging enough we’ve decided to do it on ex-Dominos delivery bikes!
Anyway, have a look at our website, and if anyone has any input or advice we’d love to hear from you!
+1 I’m in with ya Shane, being a Pizza lad and all
Whatever you can come up with… as long as it does not involve anything that you and Flatout have been on about for the last few days I will do near enough anything to make money for a brilliant idea!
Thanks guys, that would be fantastic! At the moment we are scraping what little money we can spare to buy bits to get the Innovas running. We’re fixing up some project bikes to sell off, and working as many hours a possibe. We have people saying we can have stuff cheap, but it all adds up. and that’s even before we start thinking about the “ambulance” (it’s been nicknamed the shed )
We have to pay €1600 euros for the race fees by June, and so we haven’t really even gotten round to thinking about that yet! Anything you guys could do would be a tremendous help. We’re thinking of doing a few ride outs come summer time so it would be great to organise something together.
Anything you could do to help would really be appreciated. Even just spreading the word!
At Papa Johns in Surbiton we’ve got some parts knocking about off Innovas.
Is there anything in specific that you need? Electrical parts etc?
Also, when u ride down, are u stopping off in London? I’m sure many people on the forum would join you for part of the way down once you go through London…
We’re looking for more mechanical parts such as old Cylinders as we are thinking of overboring them, and cylinder heads, carbs and wheels would be great. To be honest, any parts would come in handy, ideally we’d like to take a whole spare engine! The standard suspension is not up to the task though, so we’ll swap that for something a little more solid (think KX/CR80 front ends and some old Twinshock springs on the back).
As for electrics, the top cowl with the clocks and headlight are getting replaced by Digital clocks (thank you www.digital-speedos.co.uk) and probably a single headlight due to the new triple clamps and bars. If you were to have any little black boxes (CDI, relays, etc) spare ones could save our bacon in the desert!!!
SPADA have contacted us about taking some gear for extensive desert testing so a big thanks to them! Yorkshire Tea also deserve a big thank you for providing us with their life sustaining brew.
An ideal opportunity for meeting up could be the Brighton Burn up in September from the Ace Cafe. We are planning to ride down with a friend on his '67 Triumph TR250 so we should be fairly well matched in terms on speed!
Domino’s went to great lengths to help us track down the Innovas in their franchises and Dominos HQ helped with some of the costs, so we are keeping some of the domino’s logos on.
Looking forward to seeing some of you at the Ace cafe before the Brighton burn up, we should be easy to spot!!
