just a reminder ladies and gentleman watch out for them taxi at the lights, was filtering through traffic on way home tonight and the passenger of a black cab decided to get out without looking and took me down on my busa. i was not happy to say the least bikes got of with just a few scuffs, but my fingers are another matter.
You’ve got to be so careful around black cabs (which means pretty much all the time in the centre of town) - particularly (as i’m sure you all know) when they suddenly decide to U-Turn - (some cabbies are really good and look out for filtering bikes) - I knew a girl who hit a u-turning cab on her cbr 400 down the kings road a few years back - she hurt her legs really badly (she was wearing fashion jeans at the time) happily she made a full recovery after being on crutches for 6 months. A couple of years back I saw a courier hit a U-turning cab at hyde park corner (just after the underpass going towards Albert Hall) - the bike hit the front of the cab and he was catapulted into the air - he did at least three somersaults and landed heavily on his back on the other side of the road - thank f*ck there wasn’t a bus or something coming the other way or he would have been toast - anyway - he was ok - just bruised and badly winded.
Hope you got passenger details, you could still report it to Police, possible offence of opening a door to the danger of …Specific to person opening the door.
How do you work out that it’s the Taxi Driver’s fault?
When you consider how many taxis there are in and around the capital and the millions of miles they do every year I wouldn’t mind betting there are more offs caused by the riders themselves than caused by taxi drivers themselves.
the taxi is in charge of picking up and dropping off passengers where it is safe to do so and they are the ones who can see in the mirrors and have control of the rear door lock = completely the taxis fault
i mean WTF were they doing letting a passenger exit into a filtering bike :w00t:
def been in cabs that have been able to use that system or an extension of it to decide when to allow rear doors to open, even when stationary…maybe its actually linked to one or more of the pedals and just a tiny amount of pressure will keep 'em locked
a cabbie on the forums should be able to answer that
Any of the cabs I have been in unlock automatically when it comes to a stop. I think it is a safety requirement - what happens in an accident…cabbie knocked out ,cab on fire (unlikely I know) and you getiing grilled in the back because he can’t unlock the doors??? Errrmmm:ermm: Don’t think so…Could be wrong of course:)
On this subject, and i hope i am doing the right thing exposing this cabbie to all of you that have 2 wheels! If i am out of order for doing this then i understand, but the bloke is a knobb.
Twice this week i have had the fortunate meeting with a green London taxi:
CAB: 98205.
VRN: N779 BME.
Color: Green
He was sitting on red traffic lights at George Street across Baker Street, I was sitting next to him when i hear “you got enough fkg room c**t”!
He then angled his taxi towards me and my bike, however he was good enough to push me in to the next part of George Street that had been ‘closed’ for what ever reason. He decided to follow me, i pulled over to let him sling his hook, but he stopped got out and began to stomp towards me. Here we go i thought, helmet off, off the bike and…i here a big deep Polish voice “oi W**K*R”, Both of us look round to see Mariusz Pudzianowski’s younger brother stomping towards the taxi driver. The big bloke grabs hold of the taxi driver, looks at me and says i’ll deal with him. Looks back at the taxi driver and gives him a right burst for trying to kill me! In toe are another handful of his builders mates that had seen him trying to get me off.
On my way to work Wednesday, the taxi driver must have been lurking around for me and (it was a scene from road runner or something to be honest) he began to chase me.
Anyway i lost him, got to work, am still here today and thought i would warn you all that this toad obviously hates 2 wheeled nice people.
