Talan on the BBC

Many of you will have heard me talk about Talan, and even though I am no
longer with the firm that sponsors him, we still keep in touch and I
help him out where I can as a friend rather than a sponsor.

Well he has just spent the weekend doing some demo rides at Tandragee and was interviewd by the BBC over there.

I thought you might be interested to see the interview.

Good interview, god knows why it’s filed under football though!

Nice friendly guy, he was at a bike show a couple of years ago and I had quite a long chat with him about remote gear shifters. I wasn’t sure at the time if I’d be able to bend my left leg enough to get my foot in a decent enough position to change gear on a non-cruiser type bike post accident.

What does he do when he wants / needs to stop?

He has a launch/catch team that position themselves so they can hold the bike upright when he comes into the pits.

When he is racing, he often qualifies well up the order but because of the launch/catch team he always has to start from the back of the grid.

So does that mean he can’t ride on the roads?

He could with a suitably adapted bike or on a trike, but he doesn't

Talan has been working on that with the Red Bull F1 team for racing so that he can start further up the grid in his qualifying position.
