SWAP GSXR 600 K7

Hey guys, I am thinking about swapping my Gixxer. The only reason for that is a change in my life, I just started uni this month and will have to travel to Central London more often than I ever had to and I think it is time to think more realistic about traffic etc and I want something less interesting for a thieves because whenever I leave this bike in areas that I don’t know well even if I chain it I am paranoid about getting back and finding empty space where I left my bike.

I am looking ideally for a straight swap (but could do with something cheaper with cash my way, can’t do other way around I’m afraid) ideally for a supermoto style with a decent engine size (nothing 125 please), like a DRZ etc or might be interested in some naked style commuter. Anything that is nippy in the city traffic, and without mechanical defects.

Few words about my bike - It is a late K7 model on 2008 plate, bike is basically stock, no one messed about with any mods including me, it has only few aftermarket parts - black double bubble screen (still got original clear if you wish to change it), R&G tail tidy, R&G white crash protectors, blue bar ends and someone put a carbon fibre style wrap on the rear hugger and underseat black plastics, never been bothered to remove the wrap.

Bike is not in a superb perfect immaculate condition, it was used a lot as I am a 100% biker and never use car, hate public transport and use it only when I have to. It has some stone chips here and there and some small barely visible scratches, there was one bigger scratch on the tank that I have covered under tank pad sticker. The worst thing is the crack on the right hand side fairing, visible on one of the picture, unfortunately this happened on my drive when I was moving the bike and at one point I lean it too much and laid with it on the ground (I was on the bike) and it just cracked under the weight, nothing else was marked, touched or damaged. I was looking for a while for replacement fairing on ebay but most people selling them in a worse condition and it never bothered me that much, it probably can be repaired for not a lot of money.

Other than that bike is great, starts every time on a button, I replaced the oil, tyres and steering head bearings (bike has some miles covered) about 700 miles ago. I put Michelin Pilot Power on the bike and because I am easy rider there is just a minimal wear on them.

I bought the bike from a dealers at the beginning of the year, it has 28000 miles on the clock, it doesn’t have service history, but engine was rebuild by them before I took it and I have receipt to prove it and it is just a great machine to ride. It is of course HPI clear, I have a printout but feel free to do your own check if needed. V7 Logbook in my name is present and it has two keys too. MOT until 30 march 2015 with no advisories and tax until 30 november 2014.
I paid for it £4000 at the beginning of the year, and I value the bike now at £3200 just because of that fairing crack and rather high mileage. I am open to straight sale option too.

Bike has done 28000miles but engine been rebuilt ?
Any explaination why …

Maybe rebuild is a wrong word here, they changed some parts in there probably due to high mileage wear and I am not an expert myself, but I have covered more than 3k miles since I have it, I use it almost everyday and never had ANY problems at all with it. Just want to say that if any one is suspicious any inspections are more than welcome and of course test ride is not a problem at all.

My 07 Gixxer had 56k on the clock and ran well and didn’t require an engine rebuild…

Good luck with the sale bud.

The motors are good but gearboxes are cheese. Changed my motor at 30k due to stripped gears

If you want something less interesting to thieves, I don’t think that supermoto is the answer.

if you want to stop suspicion, I’d suggest you find a receipt of the work done.

100% second that, supermotos are much more attractive to the younger, less professional thief. You wont find them being lifted out of a secure garage at 4am by six guys with GPS jammers and a luton van but you may see some little scrubs trying to wheel it off down the road.
