Last Wed night about 12:30 in the morning, some pikey chavs tried to adopt my Daytona. Looks like they’d been after pushbikes, failed, went after a moto. They checked out a bunch and singled mine out (because it’s sexy like).
Fair bit of damage, steering lock, rear (almax chain jammed up into the swingarm and bits). They left it at the bottom of some emergency exit stairs, maybe hoping to have a bit of time to figure out how to get it up. Oxford cover was stuffed under windscreen ready for replacement in a shadowy corner, which is why I figure it was not a pro job - van would have been waiting. Same M.O. as a mate’s attempted theft a while ago.
Part of a mini crime-wave in the Riverside Quarter area - started maybe 10:30pm with some numberplate thefts (CCTV recorded the guy, good!)
Any ideas let me know!
Annoying, as I had a striple till mid 2010 when it was nicked, and I couldn’t bring myself to go through all the nerves again. Picked up the Daytona 2 weeks ago, and back in the shop already!
Essence is, fit as much security as you can squeeze in.
