sv650 de-restriction...???

just been hunting around fleebay and found this;

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=170013951608

now ive seen tre’s and power commanders but can this really do what it says on the tin??

has anyone fitted one does anyone know about these or should i just get a power commander and not bother?

baz

it depends what you want from it, a lot of these devices and yosh box/ bike tech tuner offer limited tuning , the yosh box for example can alter the standard map at three points, the biketech suzuki tuning tool can alter five points on the map, i went to the trade show to look at this with a view to buy but am not convinced. the power commander or the new interceptor from dynapro (which has a power commander setting in it to allow dynojet tuning!!!) offer a more detailed remap of the standard injection (on the new power commander '09 for instance you can adjust fuelling at each point in 1% increments on the throttle position 0-100% and at every rpm increment 1000rpm up to say 16000rpm on some gixxers …a mapping nightmare !!!) and are more efficient in smoothing out your fuel line whereas the other devices simply move the fuel line about compromising one area for another, bottom line is though what you are willing to spend and there are plenty of cheap fix’s you just need to know what you’re getting for your cash so a before and after dyno run is essential !! hope this helps

these are not worth the money, the mod can be done buy cutting some wires on the loom. and there isnt really that much of a change tbh

power commander if you really have to, but not really worth the effort on an SV650 tbh, if you want more power upgrade to a supersports.

plus insurance man doesnt look kindly on engine performance mods :stuck_out_tongue:

oooh - good answer  goes to check out your previous posts to see who you are :w00t::hehe:

Ah! Mr Keti!

And Shiver - stop trying to waste your money! x

as above, complete waste of money

it you ask about it on sv650.org they might actually go mad, they answer this question what seems like everyday

there’s no real gain to be had on the SV with doing the mod at all

The best thing about the SV is that you CANT improve it without e.g. changing the front end to a Gixxer front end - but then - IT ISNT an SV! (it’s a Gixxsv :hehe: )

The whole point is that its a lot of bike for the money and you dont NEED to do anything to it. If you keep want to make changes to it, then go for an R6 or the 1098 if you REALLY want to remortgage your house and spend the entire time in the garage  It’ll be fun either way

BUT if you want to improve as a rider and want to see results based on YOU and not the bike, keep the SV, do a few track days and see how you compare with other riders  Believe me, there is ALWAYS someone faster than you at some point on the track ;D

shiver…

buy an SVThou:D

im not looking to mod my bike just came across it and was interested to hear what you lot have to say about it.

im considering a power commander as after having a dyno run found out with my end can and airfilter its running stupidly rich now and wasting my fuel. so whens ive got the money ill go about getting one.

@ ratty

as much as i want a bigger bike gotta finish paying off for my one 1st:P
