Superprestigio Dirt Track Barcelona Saturday 17th (tonight)

If you’re in Barcelona don’t miss it. If you’re not in Barcelona it’s on MotorsTV 18:30 to 20:30. The tv guide may say otherwise but I don’t think they’ve updated it yet.

Marquez and many other world champions take on the best in flat track.

I’m not in Barcelona and don’t appear to to have MotorsTV doh!

Annoyingly it’s only available on Sky channel 447 and Virgin Media channel 545 now.
They ceased the freeview stream a while ago.

Ah I see… don’t have have either of them as well:)

In that case (if i’m not mistaken) MotorsTV are showing it online tomorrow at 11am.

Not seen the footage but Marc Marquez won.

Cheers Gav, I want to watch it even more now:)  Surprised it was impossible to watch it but hopefully that will change as the sport is growing in popularity.

Good to see the Road Racers going well.   Watching Marquez on a dirt track explains a lot about his style on the tarmac.

I haven’t found any footage of the actual race yet, here’s a training day

Hopefully this works

There’s some great clips to whet your appetite on Twitter  @flattracklive

.

boy was in a league of his own… must admit I enjoyed seeing him drop it at the end! :D

Is this the style of racing that I had seen some clips from VR that he had built a track at his house?

yeah that’s right. they’re all into it now but it’s how the yanks of the 90’s and nicky hayden all started out. I think it helps train slide control

Pretty much the same style of riding but Rossi’s track is very different in design, purpose built as part of his training plan to improve in MotoGP.  You’ll need a good memory to learn the track as it’s over 2 mins to ride.

There’s different cambers, gradients and a much trickier slippery
surface so you’re constantly fine tuning you’re riding style…takes a
lot of skill to get the power down.

Bikes are slightly different with Marquez running a 17" front wheel and no front brake but Rossi runs 19" front and has a front brake fitted.

Rossi did invite Marquez there once and I read somewhere that Marquez had the edge.  Doubt we’ll see them meeting at the Superprestigio any time soon.
