thought i’d give them a go this summer instead of the ol 2ct’s
noticed that there’s a new version - ‘pro’ as opposed to the ‘sp’.
there’s a bizarre lack of info on the Pirelli site. Anyone know what the difference is between the two? considering i’m road riding and occassional track, is there any benefit to the pro or are they actually worse for road riding?
I think the Supercorsa SP is the more road biased tyre that the manufacturers fit to some sports bikes and only one compound. Personally they’re not my favourite.
I’d stick with the Michelin 2ct’s, I’m a convert for road use and they’ll be fine for the track. Check out the new Power Pure, they’re apparently improved 2ct’s but lighter
I don’t think you’ll be dissapointed Sherrie and if they really are as light as they claim, reducing the unsprung weight will have you flicking the bike from side to side more quickly than you already do;)
Fast bikes have done a test on them and the report is in their next issue.
JB, if you do go for a track focused tyre the the Diablo Supercorsa SC work well on the road but you’ll be dipping in to your pocket sooner for a new set. I found they also lost their profile well before they wore out which affected the bike’s handling a lot.
Hey B, long time! Hope you’re well The guy in the workshop recommended them so will give them a go. Can’t wait to get back on 2 wheels, it’s been 7 long long months with no riding :w00t:
I really enjoy the instructing but I won’t be doing much this year due to other commitments. But I’m definitely going to be getting back out on track as a punter.
Have you seen Bike Mag, May edition? Some new sporty road and track rubber tested… sounds good and the new Dunlops are better than the Mich PP 2cts dry, wet and better mileage too… so they say.
got the Pure’s in the end. not overly cheap it has to be said but screw it. tyres and brakes aren’t good places to save money anyway
bike does feel super responsive but then again i have just added 10mm of rubber to the back and the tyres resemble a ‘v’ again so not sure how much is down to the ‘light’ tyre part. maybe will see on track.
