I need a new visor for my spec 1R.
Could someone please tell me if it is worth buying a road legal iridium visor for everyday use and where I can buy one apart from the net?

I thought Iridium visors were illegal?
I have one for my Suomy but got it from http://www.racevisors.co.uk/ in Guernsey and its not legal, but have never been stopped for it and when stopped (for other things) it has never been mentioned.
It depends on the tint, there is a road legal 20% tint iridium visor as well as the illegal 60% tint ones. Also, if you’re hoping the 20% will give you a mirrored visor that people can’t see through, then it won’t, you’ll need the 60% ones for that.I used to use a 20% tint (it came with the helmet as well as a clear one), the difference wasn’t really anything worth bothering with, especially if you have a clear visor. Stick with a clear visor and a 60% one. Carry the clear one when you use the 60% one.
No idea where to get one since rivetts closed down. I use racevisors as suggested above.
the consensus of opinion whenever this comes up is, It’s illegal, you do it at your own risk, but it happens all the time and the cops don’t bother.
to be honest i struggle to see how having a visor like that is any different from wearing sunglasses inside your lid?
Because some muppets will wear sunglasses as well. IIRC the rules governing visors are the same governing windscreens and the driver & passenger windows. 20% Tint + sunglasses = poor visibly. Drivers do it as well.
ah right i guess that makes sense
