Sunday Morning - 5am - Friend on my bike

A friend bought a new GoPro and wanted to try it out. Obviously I refused to get up at 5am so he took my bike as punishment lolz

Wind noise is a pain. Look how little cars are on the road, twisty roads and ZERO cars almost!

Hope he got a slapped wrist for the wheelie on your bike

There are much better ways to mount a GoPro rather than on your lid to avoid wind noise and get a much better footage as it isn’t all wobbly. I have lots of different mounts and positions to get the best footage.

What model GoPro is it and settings do you have it set on?

Wheelies are harmless, as long as he lands them gently, I see no issue with them.

Hero 3 Black Edition I think. Settings are on 720 I think but I will ask. I seem to remember that 1080 rapes the battery too much.

Can you get a plug in external mic for these?

Only playing, I think wheelies are big and clever!!

Yes, 1080 kills the battery but then I have a charger that plugs in and when the camera is on the back filming behind me it plugs in, i’m also gonna put a USB point up front too to charge all the time. there are great settings on the 3 Black to capture great footage

You can get a plug in mike for these and they are really cheap too

You should’ve lent them a guide on road positioning as well as your bike… :D. That double white right hander with on coming traffic, for example…? It made me wince!

I tried 2.4K video @ 24fps today and the battery didn’t even last 45 Mins!!

Watch it again, his head isn’t even over the white line and his bike tyres are in the middle-ish of the road, perfect road positioning for the corner!

The camera angle makes it look a lot worse than it is.

2.4k, I’m surprised that even lasted 30 minutes! 1080 from full charge should last you 45 minutes max.

Full charge on 720p is around 65-70 minutes.

i get around an hour on 1080p

continuous video footage?

no, mine does it in 17minute blocks, but i usually get my commute in to work and about 90-95% of the commute home off of a full charge, and it takes me 35-40 Mins each way

Buy this, charge while you film , £25.00:D

I have a genuine gopro housing that allows you to charge on the move. I use it when it’s on the back of the bike.

I didn’t know you get them, was that standard or did you buy that extra?

bought it separate. it was bought off ebay and I was under the impression it was a genuine GoPro accessory but a quick scoure of ebay just now and it doesn’t actually say that it is. but it looks identical and does the job, it’s also VERY sturdy as it came off at about 30-40mph and bounced about 6 foot in the air narrowly missing a Coppers head before settling on the side of the road!!

and best of all £13

Here’s a Link

That’s perfect, just googled one and it looks like it’s listed as a skeleton case. Thanks for the info I’m jetting one. So annoying running out of battery life.

yes they are great little gizmo’s but sh1te batteries! i may get the LCD Battery BackPac too. but i have 3 batteries and the onboard charger so not sure it’s worth paying another £40

I get about 3.5 hours battery life with the +black edition, but if you film and charge while you ride it’s not a problem right? So it wouldn’t be worth getting a 3rd battery.

How does it charge??

Another battery connected or connected to the bike?

Yes, pointless if I charge while I ride, but when itsvup front it’s not charging.

I have a USB socket in the rear tail unit that charges it when on the back.
