Summer Touring Jacket and Trousers

I used to have an HG mesh jacket; REALLY cool but not sure how protective it was…probably the best option for really hot days though. Wish I hadn’t sold it.

Like the look of that Revit jacket.

Thanks for all of the advice. I thought I should post my conclusion:

After trying on what seemed like hundreds of outfits I plumped for the Spada Adventure jacket and trousers:

I’ve been wearing them for 3 weeks and, for the price, I’m mega-impressed.

I went for these because unlike so many other jackets the water-proofing is on the outside, so things in pockets stay dry as well as me inside it, even with the inner lining removed. It’s quite well vented on shoulders, arms and top of legs, so is fairly cool when you are whizzing along.

If it’s hot, it does get a little sticky on the inside, but I’ve also bought EDZ’s base layers, so hopefully they will keep me cool.

Just a little feedback on the Spada Adventurer stuff I bought. It is fantastic!

You do need the EDZ under-trolleys to go with it otherwise it is a bit warm, but it is absolutely and completely waterproof, light and great for touring (And, if you wear the EDZ undertrolleys, don’t wear pants as they act like a sweat-sponge :ermm:).

The other two chaps I went touring with had a mix of textile gear, all supposedly waterproof, all of which turned out not to be very waterproof, particularly after a few hours of torrential rain. Every evening they spent hours trying to dry their stuff with hairdryers and heated towel rails. I, on the other hand, arrived at each destination, climbed out my gear, put on a light smoking jacket and slippers, and retired for dinner.

With some trepidation I must admit to having a Frank Thomas mesh jacket for the summer. Would not normally buy FT stuff but this one is quite sylish and is armoured. It is comfortable enough to wear off the bike.

I replaced the foam back protector with a proper one and find it very comfortable. It has a zip-in waterproof liner - gets a bit sticky when humidity is high. Bought on impulse for about £75 from Chiswick Honda.

Quick update. These are not waterproof at all. You get soaked in moments. They dont make them anymore anyway but poor show Revit!

i’ve got a good summer jacket by alpinestars…right mix of comfort and protection. Cheap too

I got a Richa Jacket (Richa Air or sth like that) and it is very light, mesh and has a back zip pocket with a detachable waterproof overcoat… only place the rain got in was the neck hem because it was a tad too big.

For £50 of ebay (£99 in shop in black - got it £50 on Ebay because it was red), was a great bargain especially as it has 5-piece CE armour…

Well, I forked out a proper packet for a HELD clothing package. I got an Imola jacket and Arese pants.

It was quite expensive but I must say the quality is the best I have ever seen. Its all Gore Tex with removable layers. I got caught in a massive downpour in France and it didn’t let a drip through. I think it will be OK in the summer too as it has loads of air zips. I got fed up with carrying a waterproof oversuit and the ones I had never really worked anyway. So all in all I am very please and hopefully wont have to replace this gear for ages. (As long as I buy another red bike :))

It is worth mentioning that I emailed the store and they sent me a 20% off discount code so I ended up getting a good deal.

I will let you know how I get on in the summer.
