Strange request... tissue dispenser on bike tank???

Ok you know the feeling - you’re commuting on the bike and liquid starts streaming from your nose and you sniff, and you wipe it with your glove, all to no avail, then at last you get a red light so you stop, remove glove, get tissue from pocket, blow nose, then - horrors - the light changes back to green and you don’t have time to put the glove back on and you have to ride to the next red with a glove precariously balanced on the tank…All this is easily avoided by having a box of tissues secured to the tank in a waterproof case with sturdy lid with hinge/spring arrangement holding it all secure and providing easy access without the need for glove removal, and a pocket at the front to put the used tissues in. Blowing one’s nose would take ten seconds.

Does such a thing exist, preferably which can attach to a Baglux tank cover?

If not, I will have to invent it :alien:

er… not quite what I had in mind :hehe:

Could you not find a bigger photo?

like a tank bag?
surely you can just stuff some tissues in a tank bag

Will be using the tank bag today but not ideal as the Baglux Medea is bulky and gets in the way, and you still have to zip/unzip if its raining so takes time.

I’m after a quick, easy solution that doesn’t get in the way.

Does sound like a bit of over engineering is going into place - waterproof box with spring? Why not keep some tissues in your jacket pocket, with the zip open and there you have it… I’ve left my pocket (accidentally) open a number of times and nothing has ever flung out…

Or ultimately… take it like a man! :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the suggestion Serrisan, that’s what I’ve been doing but can’t do that with gloved hands. The idea came to me when I was at work last night. Then on my journey home I stopped next to a guy on a pristine '60s Royal Enfield 350 single, and when I complimented him on his bike he flipped up his visor to respond and he had two enormous streams of snot running down from his nose to his mouth :hehe:

I thought to myself - aha, now he could use one of those  it wasn’t just me

HG TRG HANDLEBAR BAG

Put tissues, visor spray, phone etc etc. Added benefit is that it prevents the draft coming up the headstock and buffeting the chin of your helmet.

Earplugs.

Yes really!

I used them once when I had to do a freezing 100+ mile trip back to London with a streaming cold & they worked a treat, I used the soft foam bullet shaped ones - http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/182 'cos they were what I had to hand, don’t think the harder denser EAR ones I usually use would be as comfortable.

Erm does that not make it difficult to… breathe? :ermm:

not if you open your mouth.

Just nip down your local pound shop, buy a plastic box, a roll of gaffer tape ad a craft knife. Should take, oh, ten minutes when you’ve got that together.

Just think of it as the #1 prototype for the invention that will bring you fame and fortune.

Or not.

I can’t stand breathing through the mouth for prolonged periods of time… Throat dries out instantly. That’s why our noses have hairs in them

Ahhh, I didnt know hair had such hydrating properties… perhaps my hairy balls are just moisturized and not as sweaty as previously thought…?

Trim those bad boys…

Uhmmm sweat is moisture… Anyway here is a bit about nasal hair functions. I remember when my mum was in hospital and she had to breathe through her mouth, she would always complain of dried up throat

Well would you look at that, I’m never trimming again! I did wonder what the purpose of nose hairs was, I just thought it was for dust filtering etc…and of course the odd pleasure if finding a really long one and plucking it out when you think no-one is looking. Eye watering but strangely, deeply satisfying… :Whistling:

Dust/ bacteria filtering is the primary reason…

I’m damn sure i could produce a tissue bag to fit on a baglux;)
I can make pretty much anything just ask baby polar bear:D

Fantastic!! Thanks for that.

Would you be able to source the metal Baglux-style attachments (the ones with springs in them)? If not I will give them a ring and ask them to send me a set.

Assuming these are obtainable, perhaps we can have a chat about design and costs? It’s the lid I’m most concerned about, getting one that’s the right size and how to fit a spring on it.

Tank bag definitely no good for me, it keeps switching on my hazard lights! Very annoying.

nowt wrong with licking your top lip until you get to your destination and can tidy yourself properly
