Steering lock broken - options?

Someone attempted to steal (?) my GFs scooter (Honda PS125). as we returned to find that the steering lock had been broken!

Now the front wheel is not perfectly aligned as it points slightly to the left… :crying:

To drive it now you need to have the steering pointing ever so slightly to the right.

What options are they?

can this be fixed? I am more concerned with the alignment than the steering lock at the moment…

I (we) are very pissed of at the moment!

you coould always try yanking it back again.

stand in front of the bike and clamp the front wheel firmly between your knees while yanking the handlebars back into a straight position:cool:

tried it (with not too much force… ) dont wont to make it worse
should i try harder?

i would, either that or you are looking at getting the spanners out and loosening things off

I’d get a shop to check it over personally. don’t want to find out further down the line that something was yanked too far and has snapped

take the front cowl headlight off, under there you should find some allen bolts that hold the bars to the steering stem.

slack them of and strighten the bars to the wheel then nip them up…

chances are they have just put it out by trying to snap the steering lock…

if the steering lock has been broken its worth taking the barrel out and having a look in there.

somtimes a bit of the lock is still in there and can get jammed again… meaning no sterring

happen to me in a car once after i lost the keys and snaped the steering lock to drive home, good old nova  bounced off a crash barrier before i yanked it hard enuff to free the lock!

yes.

Human force will not break a scooter’s steering stem. As said above, just slacken it off and straighten it up as it will be the joint that has twisted.

Right, had a go myself… after removing the headlight/cowl and another panel i couldnt see alen bolts but a normal bolt going from front to back. as well as the normal racer(spelling?) wich i couldnt reach

I tried loosening the bolt that made the handlebars move about slightly but not enough for me to straighten them?

Im guessing that wasnt what i was supposed to loosen…
