How stiff should the steering be with a stock steering damper ? My gsxr 750 has the stock Suzuki damper fitted but even when the bike is still the steering is very heavy. Riding up the drive it’s still stiff, is this normal ?

Hi Slarty - mines the same, feels like the tyres are flat around town but is fine at speed. Is always the case on those - some people just remove them as the bike doesn’t slap anyway.
cant you adjust the stiffness?
Ok, thanks, as long as it’s normal.
I can’t see any way to adjust it, looks like a stock factory fixed damper.
I’ll try removing it once I’ve ridden it a bit, see how it feels.

Not sure about Kwacker ones but Zook ones can ge rebuilt using lighter oil.
Ir bin it and get an adjustable one:cool:
See if it still feels the same after a ride. In this cold weather the oil may need to warm up a little in the damper to free it off.
