Stansted airport by bike?

Just wondering if anyone has done Stansted Airport by bike before and can help me with:

– Parking (there is supposed to be free parking, where?) I just need about 24 hours.

– Left luggage/lockers? We wouldn’t wanna bring our lids on our trip if unless we absolutely have to.

Thanks for your answers…

A couple of guys who use xrv.org.uk have used Stanstead. Here is a thread…

Yes, head for long stay car park. Squeeze through barriers and first left. Lock bike and hop on bus to airport. I left mine for five days. A lot of bikes that were there before were still there. 24hr CCTV so I don’t think you’ve got much to worry about. I took my gear with me but If it is only 24hrs I suppose you could lock ur lid to the bike. I not aware of lockers. Only thing is I was 2hrs early so ended up wondering round duty free, then blew £60 on one of those tickets to win a car… waste of money that was

I’ve not left my bike at Stansted, but have done at Gatwick where you simply park in the short stay car park adjacent to the terminal

Stumbled on this site recently…

dont hold me to this but i think you can park in the short stay car park right outside the terminal its where all the coaches are that part, seeen plenty of bikes there when gone to pick my mate up, but hve never left a bike at stanstead before.

hope you can sort it

i’ve parked bike there before for 5 days in short stay car park bike bay right outside terminal. official parking and free. not sure about left luggage, left lid in topbox.

Done it recently, spent a lot of time enquiring about security and even spoke to Stansted Police about thefts . . . there havent been any ! As the old bill presence there, looking for Al Quaedas is a trifle on the stiff side, video everywhere, it is probably the safest place in the UK to leave your bike. Sadly there are no ground anchors or anything to do it with, but I did take my Almax anyway.

You head straight to short stay car park 2, [the second entrance as you go along] in the far corner, right by the terminal entrance the bikes park. It is free, Ryan air let you take crash helmets on board - unbelievably, however, Stansted has an excellent left luggage facility [£5 / day iirc] run by nice guys who helped me out [gave me bags & tape to wrap up all my stuff safely] as I left my leathers and helmet.

In short, highly recommended, FREE way to get there, safe parking.

I live in SE London and around 4:30 in the morning it is a very quick ride to the airport

I’ve parked there for 7 days before and no problems
