Hey all. As most of you will know, I take a back-seat in nearly all the goings on within the forums as I’m a busy bloke and we have an excellent and dedicated team looking after them, though what I’ve seen lately has made me stop and make a decision about speaking out.
The guys and girls here who manage the forums and ensure they run smoothly and keep as many folks happy as possible have a hard and thankless task. They give up a huge amount of their personal time and all for gratis, they don’t get paid, none of us do, we provide this site because we have a vision for biking in the capital that we believe in.
Think of the mod team as the landlords in a pub, or the house owners at a party. You wouldn’t insult them in real-life, so there’s absolutely no call for it online. Think what sort of job you would be doing if you were in their shoes. It’s not an easy job, but you can make it a lot easier by just remembering that these are real people, real bikers, people you can meet all the time at LB events. If you have issues, resolve them in person, don’t fall into the trap of becoming keyboard-warriors and saying things you wouldn’t think were appropriate to say in person.
I’m saying this as I’m irate that our mods are getting abuse for their efforts. It won’t stand, I don’t like it and if you think the mods are someone you can have a go at and give a hard time then you will find yourself removed from the community, regardless of how long you’ve been here or if you think it was an acceptable statement. A lot of us have stressful lives as it is, our mods don’t need more stress from members.
Take your frustrations out on a car-driver instead, not another biker, that’s just not right!
The vast majority of the members here couldn’t give a damn about petty arguments, we’re a friendly bunch and don’t care for arguments, rivalry or mis-placed frustrations about how the forums might be run. Bottom line: be offensive or insulting to the staff here and you can go your own way. The service LB offers is free and there for the benefit of all bikers, just remember that.
Now children… you’ve been told… toys back in the pram…
I missed most of it to be fair, but these situations is why I stopped visiting many months back. And thought things would be different as the names seemed to have changed and the general concern members show one another.
I stopped watching kids shows years ago, and take no interest here.
When I have issues with people, its sorted over a tea at the ace, or a beer at an event.
Just wanted to say, I have started using this community most days now, really enjoy munching my sandwich over lunch time while reading the posts on the forums.
Don’t know what abuse has been going on to the Mod’ , but it seems a dam shame when this is a great place to read and post things all about biking!!!
Mod’s, please keep up your great free work!!! I really appreciated it!!
Good to see that courtesy is being hammered down peoples throats! The forums will be a better place without abuse of mods/users and it is a good place to visit anyhow.
keep up the good work mods. it nice to be a part of this biking community i`ve met some really nice people through this site and would not say a bad word about it ;):D:cool:
I’ve also met loads of great people on this website. I would however like to add that whilst most of the time a great job is done, sometimes things aren’t dealt with in the best way.
Unfortunatley, being a moderator will mean that you will have to annoy some people at some point if the job is done correctly.
