And did those feet in ancient time,

Walk upon England’s mountains green:

And was the holy Lamb of God,

On England’s pleasant pastures seen!

And did the Countenance Divine

Shine forth upon our clouded hills?

And was Jerusalem builded here,

Among these dark Satanic Mills?

Bring me my Bow of burning gold;

Bring me my Arrows of desire:

Bring me my Spear: O clouds unfold:

Bring me my Chariot of fire!

I will not cease from Mental Fight,

Nor Shall my sword sleep in my hand:

Till we have built Jerusalem,

In England’s green & pleasant Land.

Happy St Georges day!

I think we may have missed a trick here though!.. ā€œFor the 5th year running London celebrates St George’s Day with a series of free events. For 2008 English Food is the central theme for the Trafalgar Square event, where world famous Borough Market will be relocating for the day.ā€ It’s on until 7.30pm.

Taken from the site below

Happy St George’s day all!

I brought the patron saint of skin complaints to the classroom today and explained why it is a pity this special day isn’t celebrated more.

I couldn’t find a St George badge/ pin anywhere in Putney yesterday and the most upmarket card/ gift shop had NOTHING England themed - they bloody well lost my custom and I told them so!

But Brasilian women are often spicier and sexier than either of them!

Happy to include all of the American continent in that. Quite like Brazilian women too and have quite a penchant for the delightful ladies of British Columbia. Actually what am I on about, i just love women full stop. It’s just English women see right through us English guys; the accent don’t work none.

Happy Saint George’s Day everyone

Found this poem on the internet:

DON’T SAY YOU ARE ENGLISH

Goodbye my England, so long old friend

Your days are numbered, being brought to an end.

To be Scottish or Irish or Welsh that’s just fine,

But don’t say you’re English that’s way out of line!

The French and the Germans may call themselves such,

As may the Norwegians, the Swedes and the Dutch.

You can say you are Russian or maybe a Dane,

But don’t say you are English ever again.

At Broadcasting House that word is taboo,

In Brussels they’ve scrapped it, in Parliament too.

Even schools are affected, staff do as they’re told,

They mustn’t teach children about the England of old.

Writers like Shakespeare, Milton or Shaw,

Do pupils not learn about them anymore?

How about Agincourt, Hastings or Mons?

Where England lost hosts of her very brave sons.

We’re not Europeans, how can we be?

Europe is miles away, over the sea!

We’re English from England let’s all be proud.

Stand up and be counted, shout it out loud!

Let’s tell Gordon Brown and Brussels too.

We’re proud of our heritage, not just red, white and blue.

Fly the flag of St. George, not the Union Jack!

Let the World know ENGLAND is back!

And I like your post Lawro. Should be our national anthem

Nice one OSSIWHU - Happy Birthday to Will Shakespeare too.

is that a bit of father/son bonding going on???

Gotta keep in touch somehow now he’s back at Uni!
