It’s become embarrassing to walk into my office in my Alpinestars SMX, especially if I’m late, or like today, when I forgot my suit in my topbox so had to go to a meeting in my bike gear. How do you stop the squeaking? Some peeps say ‘WD40’, some ‘vaseline’, but where would I apply it?
To the bits that are squeaking? LoL
It’ll be where hard plastic is rubbing on hard plastic - joints and any plates that are on the outer.
Vaseline or hair wax/gel is better than WD40 which is too thin and runs everywhere.
Looking fwd to seeing the Ducati, remember tho that it is big and heavy so take it very easy. Get out of town with it asap and head for a nice quiet road 2 familiarise yourself with it.
If you’re around this weekend, could always go for a ride in your neck of the woods…
A good one to use is the leather treatment stuff, made with linseed oil and wax, tends to last longer than wd40.
Silicon lubricant or WD40 does it for me Paivi, I put the boots on, lean forward so the ankle joint is bent and a gap exposed near the rear of the joint, then use a WD40 spray with the pipe attachment to direct the spray right up into the gap in the joint. Do this a few squirts, leaning back and forth, left and right side of each boot, and that should do the trick for a long while! Rain will wear it out a bit quicker I find, but it’s something that you shouldn’t have to do more than once every few months.
Thank God you included the word boots in your first sentence
Dont put oil or W40 on it, just clean between the plastic links. Oil or WD40 will work great until it attracts dust and crap and then start the squeaking again and it is all abrasive.
