Spocket size?

I’ve bought a new chain for the 525 exc and want to fit new rear Renthal sprockets as the orange rear is a little OTT for me, I’ve done some reading here and 14/45 seams the accepted set up.

Is this a good choice for road riding and a bit of fun, wheelies etc?

I had that set up on my 525 then dropped the rear to a 42 but im going to go upto a 44 cause the 42 just doesnt feel great. The 42 is better for top end but the bigger sprocket is more fun.Dont get a renthal, im assuming its the ally one your gona get. Get yourself a supersprox one which has an ally gold center but steel teeth, lasts alot longer and the gold will go well with your hubs.Call TWS on 01531631266 they are about the only place you will find one for your bike and you’ll get it the next day. They are the dealer that Race Spec use yet when i tried to get one through Race Spec they told me they couldnt get them for KTM so i called TWS direct and they sent me one out which i recieved the next day.

Cool, 14/44 it is then, I’ll get a Renthal cause I don’t care how long it lasts, I’ll just replace it :w00t:

Dunno what 14/44 will be like as i aint tried it yet. Have abit more top end than a 45 but more pull than the 42

Loots of people do 14 - 45 i hear, but I think you will struggle to keep your front wheel on the ground in any gear

14 - 42 on my 530, same before on 520 and 525.
Good on road ( 100+ mph ) and still wheelie like mad.

I’ve ordered 14/44 now, see how it feels, :w00t:

How about you see how it feels by coming on this http://londonbikers.com/forums/Topic773948-52-1.aspx

For sure (sounded like Rossi there!) but the wheels are being re-done this weekend, is this for SM’s only?

Nah, its for anyone but id say it’ll be mostly SM’s, dont realy get any others on it this time of year or well you never used to anyway

Don’t worry, they last for ages as long as you look after the chain and they’re only about £25 anyway. You’ll go through several tyres before you have to replace it. The front will wear quicker.
