Hi all , well i bought some second hand clocks for the bike im restoring but the mileage is much higher on the clocks than on the bike , is it possible to rewind the clocks back to the mileage on the bike?
Cheers Chris
I thought tampering with clocks was illegal?
Not that I have experience of this ok, but I think you have to wind forwards, I here a drill is good but it takes a while. Failing that, I have heard that if you remove the glass you can rotate the numbers by hand.
Attachment D3 and a Dremel in reverse…not that I know about these things either !!!
COuld you explain this a little as im not sure what a D3 is
If you were to carefully take the clocks apart you might simply be able to turn the numbers by hand. Some Yamaha and (I think) Kawasaki clocks allow this. A friend of a friend was once dismantling some clocks to do this when he found a note inside the clocks saying “Oh no, not again.”.
What are the clocks off?

The clocks are off an 1993 NTV650 which ive stuck on a bros650 the clocks have 840291miles on them and my bros has only 24000 something miles on it. The clocks are connected via a cable running to the wheel rather than electronic {if that helps} i dont think i can get the glass off as i think its fixed or glued.
i just was’nt sure when i take my bike for an mot would they write the numbers down from the clocks
a D3 is a little attachment inside the Dremel Kit…The Dremel is the thing you attach the attachment to and the once attached you attach the combined attachment to the speedo cable and then switch on the combined attachments until you have well and truly broken the law to the degree you require or battery charge in combined attachments will allow.
“mons too” roddney “Mons Tooooo” !
I’m not familiar with those clocks. If they don’t come apart easily then best to go with the dremel option.
Given what you’re doing I don’t think you’re breaking any law.

Strangely enough it’s not illegal to adjust the mileage on your car/bike. You’re only breaking the law if you try to sell on the vehicle without telling the buyer theat you’ve changed the mileage. I think it’s classed as fraud or something like that!
