Anyone know anything about SP Engineering Exhausts?
They seem to do quite a range of slip on silencers and link pipes.
Just wondered if anyone has one, or has had any experience with them. What’s the build quality and fit like?
They are keenly priced and look the part, especially the MotoGP range on offer.
I’m looking for some new cans and am tempted by this lot.
Would be good to hear from someone who is currently running one on their bike to see if they are worth a punt.
cheers
Had one, it was too loud with the baffle in for some track days, with the baffle out it was mental! The lost back pressure from basically having a straight through pipe meant the bike was really sluggish in the low revs, but picked up a lot at the top end. Maybe a power commander could sort it, or if it was for track use it’d be fine (although you’d have to find a track day with no noise limit…). In the end I sold it and got a quill which is quieter but makes the bike run much better and has a deeper sound.
Thanks for the feedback. How was the build quality?
Good. I’d say overall, not a track exhaust. Very loud, supplied baffle killed the power (15mph off top speed for instance). DB killer was better but still not great.
This is based on a 636 sports bike, not sure what you’re thinking of putting it on.
I was interested in getting one for my GSXR1000.
I’m not too sure I’d like the loss of power at the low end as with the litre bike a lot of the time unfortunately is spent in low revs. It’s harder to get the bike in the higher powerband as I tend to run out of road!! I use the bike more on the road as opposed to track. Track days for me are few and far between. Perhaps as you say, a power commander may smooth it out.
Thanks for your info thought, it’s helpful to get thoughts of someone who’s had one of these pipes. Cheers
