I live in Thornton Heath near Croydon.Hey all, I’m just wondering who among our members here is based nearby where I live just so we can sort of keep a note and perhaps a quick PM or text message when weather is nice to see who is up for a ride.
Just like to point out that since I work 12 hour shifts and occasional nights its unlikely I’m available on the same day every week and tend to start my rides at a relaxed time frame instead of silly o’clock. unless there is something arranged like a track day to get to.
My usual choice of haunts for a blast with half decent tarmac is as follows but I’m always open to interesting suggestions.Purley A22>A2642 towards Tunbridge Wells (nice pub for eats)
Box-Hill>Newlands Corner (cool scenery)
Box Hill>Arundel
Forestdale>Westerham (very narrow twisty country lanes look a bit like a TT :w00t: )
Will be no problem, I never underestimate supermoto riders any more, your bikes appear to be a lot more nimble and usable around 75% of the roads and speeds I tend to keep to so its cool
Anyway it’s more fun to ride with someone you can compare your pace and lines to.
Just a gentle warning: please be careful what details you post up on a forum that is open to anyone and his dog. Even scallies that steal bikes no doubt read forums like these
Agreed that is why I wasn’t planning to post my mobile on the forum or any personal address but eventually PM who is interested and we meet up somewhere local with a car park like a drive in McDonald or Petrol station and then head off.Or did you mean that the general forum is open even to non forum members and perhaps I should have posted this in the Ride Outs forum?BTW niceone lessismore and Le-tils I’m off from friday until mid next week so lets see what the weather brings first
I’m new to Forest Hill, but what you might call vintage LB… ie old and smelly
But South London crews sound good, we try riding North and baiting some of those lot!
I’m an ex-south norwood boy - still work in croydon but live near tonbridge, so sevenoaks, through to westerham, on to Box, up and around croydon and caterham are all good for me
Trouble is, I got me a 125 so probly wouldn’t keep up with y’all
There are some great roads not far from there, my favourite is the ride to the White Bear pub past a golf club and a scouts campsite, then beyond the WB keep going straight for a couple of miles then left, then right, down into a lovely valley then up the other side to that very scenic road from Warlingham to Westerham. From there, you’re in biking heaven, especially Ide Hill
If you don’t know this route then let me know and I will post better instructions. I assume all bikers from the area know it pretty well though :hehe:
Yep thats the roads I play when I go that way. The White Bear pub though didn’t want to serve me food last time I went there about 15:45 as they said the kitchen was shut then yet people were sat and eating. Ah well, off to Westerham I went.Blimey! There seem to be more LBers than I expected round this parts, this is good news, I tend to just go for short blasts that don’t keep me away for more then 2-3 hours let’s see what the week-end brings, Friday seems its gonna be a cloudy 17 degrees which sounds just about right for the rubber and keeping cool. ;)Supermotos are cool, I had a go on a friend’s KTM and liked it but I like the stability of a fairing at speed and in the rain, also when I’m hit by wind buffet coming from trucks on the opposite lane it used to wind me up (ahem!) rotten when I rode the last naked bike I owned.Max
