Sorry for an obvious question re Bike Thefts but...

Not so sure about this UV pen marking your property with postcode and house number. Surely some scrote could get a ‘black light’ and find out where you live by looking at it, then nicking your bike from there? And presumably it’s possible to change/remove the UV pen markings because people DO move and DO sell their bikes so it should be possible to change it?

Confused of Surrey.

the UV marker is used on the inside of panels…not in view…

Your typical thief doesn’t carry round a black light as such…

this is just a cheap cost effective and ££less way of tracking down thieves once the bike has gone…

you don’t need to use it!

“you don’t need to use it!”

Wasn’t criticising, just asking. Particularly after some posts on other threads. And of course it’d be somewhere a bit inaccessible - d’oh, CM being a bit peroxide this evening - the rest of your response explained it perfectly to the novice.

Another question then, what about a bike that doesn’t have lots of panels on it? OH, RIGHT!!! I just got what you mean - I don’t need to use it because I don’t have panels on my bike. (Bleedin’ 'eck some people can be so DUMB!)

There are places other than the track or ebay that stolen bikes end up. Some are just ridden around with a cloned plate (remember to blank out that plate when you post your bike pics) and I got one back that had been crated up and was on its way to Ireland with 5 other stolen bikes when it was discovered.

Probably the best use though, was my VF750 that was used in an armed bank job! I spent a whole afternoon at the local police station explaining that if I was going to do a bank, I would not be stupid enough to use my own bike as a getaway vehicle

Lots of places CM…

Underside of the tank, back of headlight, underside of seat, rear of mudguard, underside of yoke…

you’d surprise yourself how many places you could apply it to!
