Something suspicious on bike thefts - or am I paranoid

Right I’ve been tempted for a while whether to post this or not…

Everyday on my way to work I pass a certain small little mechanic’s garage around the SE1 area… Now what has caught my attention is that there is always 1 bike in that garage (he doesn’t work on bikes, just cars - I know cause 2 years ago I had asked). At first I thought nothing of it but the more I go by there, the more suspicious I get.

The reason is that nearly every time I go by there the bike is a different one - at least as far as I can remember. It’s always a new looking sportsbike - I’ve seen from RC8s, to ninjas to R6s in there…

Obviously I got suspicious but it could be that he is a collector, or just very rich and has loads of bikes…

I don’t want to give too much info out on a public site and slander a guy/ business that may have done nothing wrong but on the other hand, I can’t help feeling that it doesn’t quite feel right…

Any advice?

If that guy had a bit of common sense the bikes would be out of site, but you never know some peoples intelligence these days.

Maybe watch him come into work one morning to see how he gets there?

Phone him and ask if her also works on bikes, he may be getting work through mates of mates if he’s good and knows his way round bikes. Or he may not be, but at least it’ll be one possibility you can cross off the list.

Maybe he rides to work on loaner bikes from the bike dealership that he does extra work for? Could be all sorts of reasons. Perhaps go and ask…

Yeah I had asked a while back because I saw the bikebut he said he didn’t… I don’t ride in every day - only when I come to the london office… I’ll pop in and have another ask see what they say…

if you can get a reg of one of the bikes there can you check to see if its stolen?

Good point, I’ll have to walk in a fair amount to read the plate but hopefully it can be done… :slight_smile:

or go in asking about work on a car then give it the old that a nice bike you ride its it for sale type type of chit chat.

Mate of mine owns a car garage, only does cars but if you asked him to do you bike he would… I’ve asked him before.

Probably nothing but worth checking out.

maybe drop by with a friend and ask if he’s got any bikes for sale…:wink:

if he says that he can get hold of pretty much anything, they you’ll know.

If they were nicked I doubt they would be left in plane site for anyone to see anytime they go past ?

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I actually agree with MK.

Which is why I have not really made the details of this place public… It has been a hunch because of the number of different bikes I’ve seen there…

@J.C. - I agree as well but unless you’re looking for it, you wouldn’t really see it…

He isn’t sending an innocent down, he’s wondering whether the bloke is an innocent man or not. Nothing wrong with a bit of digging around if the possibility that he’s a thief exists, and he hasn’t named the place.
