The creator of some of the classics of children’s television (and stuff I grew up and loved) has passed away. Oliver Postgate passed away at 83. He created amongst others:
Bagpuss
Noggin The Nog
Ivor The Engine
The Clangers
Watched them all as a small kid, and now that I am a big kid will have to now find them on DVD. When I see what is paraded as children’s TV now I shudder.
Thanks for all the great memories, and may you rest in the peace that you truly deserve.
Odd coincidence …but yesterday whilst out on me pocket rocket i rode up beside a ford fiesta that was full of bagpuss stuff i counted at least 12 bagpuss’s on the parcel shelf :w00t: brings back some happy memories…who remembers the wooden birds name…cos i cannot recall it:blink:
And c’mon it aint all bad todays kids stuff …Teletubbies rock:D and the fimbles are great:P
Professor Yaffle I think Sad day, but also happy that genuine good people exist on this earth who are happy to work and give us treasures and memories as this chap so wonderfully gave us.
Very sad news, he was responsible for some very good kids stuff…some of it get repeated on the childrens channels on satelite after 7pm…don’t ask me how I know, I just do…
I loved Bagpuss, especially the “Marvellous Mechanical Mouse Organ”, and Ivor the Engine, and the Clangers. This is a sad day indeed. The guy was a genius :crying:
Very sad news. I remember him best from an interview with russell brand on his radio show. really touching, he told of how he and his team came up with the ideas etc.
really wish I could find the interview so funny He said how they would find stuff each week (or time they made an episode) and have to come up with a story. Really was just a few people in a shed having fun making a kids programm.
