Some of the stuff i thought was good this year...

OK so this year some of the products that i think have been good are as follows just encase anybody is looking for kit - i would like to pass on my findings of some of these good products:

Pinlock - not used it before this year but im a convert! very very good - i never had my visor steam up once! £20

HJC Crash Helmets - I had the FG15 - i paid £140 for it, it has been excellent - a nice fit, good at speed and all the features of a lif twice the price. I have seen people bounce down the road in them and get up.

Alpinsters Sp1 Gloves - I have a crash at a reasonable speed wearing them, Hardly any damage and i know i put my hand out when i hit the deck because i broke a thumb and a finger, i still use them now and they pass scutineering at a race meeting - £99 form HG. bargain.

RST Gloves - always have a spare set! and for £50 - they are really comfy and fit well, i have not crash tested these yet however!

Wolf titanium 1 Piece leathers - for £270 - they have been brilliant i took a slam at pembrey in practice and they saved my skin with no dramas and no holes - ive sen people slam in leathers 3 times more expensive and need them repaired. These are tough leathers.

Wheel Chocks - ooooh so much easier, when we load a van up we have them bolted to the deck, wheel the bike in and the front wheel goes in, one strap to secure the bike and its done - you could bolt these to a trailer pretty easily. I thoroughly recommend - makes loading and unloading by yourself easy.

Some stuff i wasn’t keen on:

Rolson Vaccum bleeder for my brakes - pile of crap. I bought it to solve a problem that never existed, a bit of tubing and a pot is perfectly fine and actually i seem to be able to do a better job with it.

anyway, hopefully somebody might find this useful…cheers

Knox body armour too!

Regarding Vaccum bleeder - do you suggest you can bleed your brakes equally well without one. How about when you bleed dry system (e.g. after lines change)?

Yes i think i bleed the brakes better without one, just a tube over the valve on each calliper and into a pot - i pump it through with the leaver.

I change my brake fluid after a track day or a race each and every time, I probably don’t need to do this but i consider it preventative maintenance - i have the callipers off at the same time and give them a good blast with brake cleaner and give em a good going over with a toothbrush - and old one i might add!

oh sorry i see that wasnt what you asked was it? haha

OK for a dry system i use a cheapo syringe and inject brake fluid up the lines from the calliper end!

Brilliant advice. Many thanks.

your very welcome, here is what i use: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTORCYCLE-BIKE-REVERSE-BRAKE-BLEEDING-KIT-ONE-MAN-BIG-50-60-ML-SYRINGE-/160893331923?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item2575fd69d3#ht_2425wt_1080

haha that description is just the world’s biggest double entendre

JUST SUCK UP FRESH FLUID WITH THE PIPE ON THE SYRINGE AND POP THE PIPE ON THE OPEN NIPPLE. SQUEEZE GENTLY UNTIL YOU HAVE NEW FLUID THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM .TIGHTEN OFF AND THE JOBS DONE…DONT FORGET TO EMPTY YOUR RESOVOIR FIRST OR IT WILL OVER FLOW!!!

you have a dirty mind sir! hahaha
