So it looks like my insurance is finally going to pay out this week.
Just got back from NEC and drooling over mechanical totty (and tarty totty too!) and my mind is a blur! (BTW, the new MV Agusta F3 is the star of the show IMO)
I think its between:
2011 Repsol blade (had a 2010 and it got lifted)
2011 MV Agusta F4 (sexy as hell but a little cramped…)
2nd hand 2006 MV F4 and a track bike (probably mid 2000’s jap bike)
Other contenders:
Beemer… (how long will it be at the top…?)
New KTM RC8 R… (simply because its insane)
I’ll be keeping my winter hack ride so the above is purely a tart’s pride and joy and will not be destroyed by our lovely winters.
This looks like a real easy question to (F4) answer. But it’s really (F4) hard to answer becauseI don’t know you or (F4) or your tastes, wants (F4) or desires. Or anything really.
for me it would be the ktm, why? well because you will have something different ok the others are good but there much a much all the same ok well apart from the mv though bmw might beat it but who cares like yr realy gonna notice that on a road. besides i think the ktm might be more fun coz u dont have to scream it unlike an inline 4 where u have to at times then yr not enjoying it coz yr going so fast you gotta be serious and think who is gonna pull out on me wheres that big stone in yr path is there wild deer about, will that furry thing half a mile way move the same direction as the way you go etc etc etc:) can be said this for any bike though
the mv is stunning but woodster can give you an idea of how hard work they are to keep running, parts are rare as stuff out the back of a rocking horse
Thanks for the vid Kaos Hmmmm… You know if the headlight cluster looked better on the KTM… then it looks like its an awesome choice as it looks like its got even better.
I do love the blade, but i’ve got a chance to live with something else and feel boring if I got the same again… but then I know it very well…
F4 is glorious. But for some reason it doesnt feel right for me… can’t understand why as its clearly the best looking bike - maybe im just an ugly b@rstard at heart!
I’ve ridden the Beemer and loved it - but that is an ugly brute. Also, it feels a bit like jumping on the band wagon cos Fast Bikes loved it so? But now they are raving about the Aprillia RSV Factory SE - which is the nuts - but i must say, the switches, dials and grips etc. are not nice - feel very cheap?
That sounds lovely… but if i was going to go for the Factory, it propably stump up the extra dough and go for the SE… but I suppose it comes down to dosh…?
In truth if I was in your position, had the dosh and wanted a new bike. I’d be buying the S1000RR.
It might not be as beautiful as the MV or have the character of the KTM or RSV4, but it is such a good bike, plus traction control, quiick-shifter and ABS for £12.5k new??? No-brainer I think.
When i was changing the 1098 my short list consisted of the RSV4 Factory and the BMW. The main reason i went for the BM was the amount of miles i put on in the year and the fact that BMW was slightly bigger in size, only just, for my frame. It’s power and usability is brilliant and build quality i think is better than anything else i have owned. Yes the headlights aren’t to everyones liking but i have to admit they have grown on me.
I definately do not regret buying her and can’t wait to get her back on track next year:P
If the money was mine I would buy the BMW, for peace of mind due to build quality, as PJ says, and just the fact that it is consistently stated as the best thou on the market by almost everyone I take seriously.
However, I love the look of the KTM, I like the fact that there are not that many of them around and with the recent improvements it seems like it would be awesome bike to hoon around on, but I would always be worried before buying it that it was a mistake and that I would regret it.
I am pretty certain I would not regret buying the BMW. That is the only factor that would swing it for me.
