So sad

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/cornwall/7523985.stmR.I.P biker, could’nt believe the wreckage strewn everywhere in the pic, brought a lump to my throat.

I have done the A38 through Devon and into Cornwall, and i’ll be honest there are some terrifying sections that go through some some incredibly twisty and steep sections.

There are huge stretches where there are solid white lines. People get impatient and over take slower mover traffic and it causes severe problems.

Not a road to really hammer along, the A38 and the A30 are the two major arteries of Cornwall.

Very sad.

R.I.P. biker.

R.I.P all concerned, always sad whoever it is

RIP - although interesting to fidn out what happened, was the car overtaking on the doubles or the bike? Those skid marks could have been either way, either braking before the head on (car overtaking on doubles) or after the head on (bike overtaking on the doubles)…

That picture brought a lump to my throat and a coldness all down my back. RIP to all that passed.

RIP both rider and driver

Nasty, RIP both.

From what they say, looks like bike overtaking on doubles and car presumably in the overtaking lane. If, of course, there was any overtaking going on at all. Horrible outcome, whatever happened.

Thats so sad RIP.

RIP BIKER AND CAR DRIVER

It’s shocking to hear of incidents like that.

R.I.P.

That image is haunting…sometimes we forget how fragile life is.

R.I.P to both biker and driver.

RIP very sad indeed

Very sad :frowning:

The A38 can be nasty in patches, driven down there many times to Cornwall, once through fog, one of the scariest drives Ive ever done.

That’s sad news, and I hope that the pillion passenger pulls through.

I’ve reached a similar conclusion to 7wheel: The bike was heading west (away from Plymouth), which would put it on the single lane side of the road, whilst the car was heading east (towards Plymouth).

The photo in the This Is Plymouth story shows a car straddling the line between the two eastwards lanes. So it could have been hit midway through an overtaking manoeuvre. (There’s a red car parked on the verge, and several civillians who look like they’re being treated for shock.)

It also looks as though the bike was running wide (the red, yellow and orange lines on the road), and crossed the double white lines.

I know this particular stretch of road very well, and it’s alway’s been a really bad traffic black spot! There are a lot of fatalities on this particular stretch, mainly due to the speed that some of the people go when using it. When I was a teenager, we lost my friend’s little brother, Gavin, on that very stretch of road in the picture. Needless to say, I have just got goosebumps looking at it! :frowning:

RIP
