So TFL were having a clampdown on cyclists riding on the pavement and jumping red lights during September, it even made the news.
However I dont recall seeing a single cyclist pulled over or any evidence of any enforcement of the traffic laws despite blatant breaking of them by hundreds of cyclists every hour, every day. Did anyone actually see any cyclists being stopped or done or was this just another meaningless PR stunt without any follow up by the uncaring Mayor and his idiots in charge of traffic in London .
well, if we start policing the roads ourselves I am sure that we will be able to cure cyclists of their errant ways. A painball gun fitted to the fairing ala 007 Q style mod, loaded with bright yellow paintballs should do the trick. Set it to 450fps and they will know they have been labelled miscreant lawbreakers!
Saw three bicycle and lycra clad police at Ludgate Circus tother day stopping red light jumpers, gave them a toot and a thumbs up as I rode past. They smilled…a lot
Mind you I did see the aftereffects of a crash between a bike and a van last week in the same local, bike had been ripped in two, dont know what happened to cyclist but cant have been good.
while i was commuting by train and foot about 18 months ago i saw a police motorcyclist pull a cyclist for jumping a red light, near bank station. gave him an absolute bollocking to.
Saw one get a tug by a bike plod on the Hamstead road for jumping the lights at the top of Tottenham Court Road on Tuesday night, thing is what are they going to do to them can’t put points on their licence so the risk for cycle riders is pretty minimal, even if they do pull them I don’t suppose that the fine is much , if it gets that far. Me, I’d rather they pulled drivers using mobiles than waste their time with sucidal peddle pushers, pain in the arse though they maybe.
