So, the idea was good. Decided to go out for a nice ride as the weather forecast was cool. Gave nuckingfuts (fellow member) a call on friday and we agreed to go for a ride to Winchester along some corking country roads:D.
Met him this morning at his place with SWMBO on the pillion seat. We made good progress ;), and decided to stop for a cuppa at box hill.
Tea drunk and the mrs completing her moaning about being cold, we set off again down the A3 toward Petersfield. At the turn off for Petersfield Nuck decides he needs a slash so we pull in to an McD’s where he can get some relief.
Eager to attack the A road into Winchester and finally get some nose bag, we readied ourselves to set off again.
Then it began!!!
Alarm off, key in ignition, turn…NOTHING:crazy:
Try again…NOTHING. When i say nothing i mean nowt, no lights no relays zilch.
Some head scratching later, i decide to start stripping the bike with my limited tool kit. Check all the obbvious bits fuses etc, all ok:(
Now clutching at straws, i get jiggy with some connectors and wiggle loadsa wires. Thats bound to solve it!!! fingers crossed, turn ignition…Nowt:crying:
Its now 13:30, i resign myself to calling the AA and becoming a member (117quid, but its ok as im sure they will fix it, i think to myself!). Bloke turns up in about 30 mins, cool i think, we will be off soon!!
Oh No, you guessed it. “Sorry m8 cant fix it” says the AA bloke. OH Joy!! AA man calls for a recovery truck to come get me to trailer me home.
Allas another problem, the AA call “sorry m8, your cover doesnt include towing home! That will be another 70 some quid” Fine i say, at this point i have no other choices and i just want to get going.
To cut an already long story short i get home at 19:30 well out of pocket and thoroughly cheesed off!! Decide that im going to fix the bike, so spent a couple of mins on the SV portal to see if anyone else has had the same problem.
I find this http://www.sv-portal.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27074&highlight=dead+ignition
1.5 hours later bike is fixed and running again
Expensive lesson learnt, oh well hind sight is a great thing.
Any of you SV owners ever suffer this problem check your green connector and save yourselves some golden nuggets, my gift to you all this christmas;)
