So, central Londoners - how do you clean your bike?

Hi all, I’ve just moved into my girlfriends flat and now the bike is parked in a public bay about 8 mins from her third floor flat. Now i’m no fan of cleaning but every now and again I’ll give it a go. But short of taking all the kit to a jet wash it’s going to be a right royal pain going back and fourth with buckets of hot water!

Any ideas? Anyone else in a similar situation and what do you do?

I just let the Pigeons **** on my bike. Seems a simple and cost effective method.:)I forget you cannot say P1SS on here.

Just pour some soap etc on it next time it rains.

Have you got any mates reasonably nearby ? Use their hot water / hose etc.

I take it to a gas station and use the jet (taking care when the high pressure is that i dont damage anything) costs £1.99

also after it has rained just wipe it down with cloth

(but i need to buy a rear hugger)

HOT water ? :w00t: :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m afraid I have to use buckets of water and a cloth!

take it to one of those specific bike cleaning places which does it for you.
little expensive, but worth it.

How much is a little expensive Darrylj? (as a rough guide - am feeling lazy)

Thanks!..that Super clean looks great!

if ya use the jet wash option be careful when spraying nr bearings etc, it’ll wash the grease out etc, high powered jet.

I use on of these, very handy

I live in a flat. It’s a bucket of soapy water for me.

I used one of these:

Bought the first in 1971; wrecked the tube eventually after 25 years. Bought another in 1996 and it’s still going strong.

I also use a Hozelock spray to get into the crevices to rinse off the dirt before using the WashMatik.

Also handy to keep full inside the door, that way when you’ve been out on salty roads over the winter you can grab it & rinse the bike off before you get inside & the warmth makes you feel disinclined to go back out into the cold & dark.

Cheers all, I do like the pigeon idea;)
