Snetterton - Thurs 8th June, £85

Anyone going to Snetterton on the Thursday 8th June? It’s £85 with Hottrax and it’s being run as a PACE Day* which makes things more interesting! I’ll hopefully be booking in the next day or so.

*Hottrax have taken on the PACE Day format that was used by European Superbike School before they went under. Essentially, they fit a transponder to the bike and then time everyone’s laptimes. You then get put into a grid based upon your time (person in front being slightly faster, person behind slightly slower). The idea is that you will always be behind someone who is slightly quicker than you at the start, which is supposed to help you improve by following them. It’s also very interesting of course (except when you realise you’re half a minute slower than the BSB boys…!)

Pace day is the way forward as far as i can work out. Has to be the safest way of sorting everything out. Please leave the track in good order, we are testing there on the Friday and racing at the weekend.

So there’ll be people to help me gaffa tape smashed bits of fairing back to my bike…? I hope I don’t wreck the track - that would have to be one hell of a crash!

Sounds good, though I can’t help think that people will go too fast on their timed laps and stack it, trying to set a good time.

I know what you mean. I did one last year at Brands and it was really interesting to know the times - you can get someone to time you with a stop watch but it’s hardly scientific. I try not to be competitive on a trackday because I don’t want to crash but I can imagine some people pushing themselves. You don’t actually get the times on the day so you don’t have a target to keep pushing towards per se. All you get are positions, the times are available on the web the day after.

ESS used to claim it was actually safer because you’d never get the situation of riders bunching up going into a corner and causing incidents.

Sounds like the way forward defo.

But I fear Snet is too far and besides, gotta save for a bigger lens now…keep up with you!

Trouble is I keep having dodgy fantasies about the 400mm f/2.8… now where did I put that spare £5k I had kicking around…

I hear ya !

D’oh! Sold out. That’ll teach me for not sorting out time off work quickly enough!

Okay, their website was wrong. I’m booked into Inters. Anyone else from here going?
