Ok as some as you may know the old bill pulled me on the 18th of August on the way to the Ace to meet Alba for having a rather small plate.
My question is:
I haven’t received anything in the post.
I’ve got a nice traffic offence report which tells me to wait for a letter or email.
How long do I need to wait before they cannot pursue the matter ?

You’ll get one soon enough… I got mine a couple of days ago after being pulled on the 14th.
yeah don’t worry mate, i doubt they have forgotten about you… 
I am probably wrong but thought that… you should get a NIP within
2 weeks of the offence or you have grounds to reject it.
Although it sounds like you may already have been given a NIP.
Once you have been Notified of the Intension to Prosecute it could
be years before they catch up with you again and it goes to court.
Well that used to be the case.
Don’t ask me how I know, but long ago I changed addresses a lot
and lived abroad for a few years. I’m squeaky clean now, including
my driving licence 
nah what they do now is they write a traffic report and then send you a conditional offer of an FPN…
