The government in Vietnam is considering banning people who have a chest size of less than 28 inches from riding motorised bikes…no really…The thought is that small people are less able to control bikes than their chunkier brethern… Now this is in Vietnam where the average Joe isn’t very big.
They are trying to cut down on the " large proportion of motorcycles involved in accident " but as 90% of motorised transport in that country are bikes, it may not be a surprise that they are involved in a high number of incidents…
Sheesh that would wipe out transport in most of Vietnam!
They should probably look at stopping people having 6 people on a scooter- I think that was the most I saw.
It would also make the roads a lot safer as crossing the road in Hanoi is done by just closing your eyes, stepping out and walking slowly and consistantly across the road praying that the scooters avoid you. There’s no such thing as road manners unless your vehicle is bigger than theirs!
was in vietnam in phnom penh a couple years ago…watching the bikes is a real laugh…at each junction you will get about 500 cyclists, and when the lights change they all go…including the odd one or two coming from the side road riding across the lights infront of 500 cyclists all heading down the road, as fast as their little legs will carry them, and inevitably there is always a crash…no one is hurt but it is so funny, and amazingly a lot of the kamikaze riders get through,…it is real funny
