Yes Chuffster. I’ve done it a few times. It’s fast, bloody fast. Long and wide. You’ll hit 170mph down the back straight, and be going very fast and leaning a lot for some of the double right-handers. Abby is a new corner compared to the Intl or National circuits, taking a bit more bottle to take flat out.
It’s great fun, but the International circuit is just a tad bit better for bikes, as it’s more flowing and keeps riders together more, meaning more fun with overtakes.
I have an onboard-video of it on my site, with B riding:

Cheers for the info dude. Cant watch vid at work but will do later. I don’t think I will be doing 170 though - should be riding my mini twin SV650 and they dont go that fast unless dropped from a significant height!
lol… okay, well best of luck ![]()
Cheers Rod. Most of my friends are doing the 19th but the mate I spanner for at racing wants to do 18th so we do Saturday. My friend who rides in British Superstocks is up there with his team and we are invited to BBQ and beers etc on Saturday night. May well see you on the Sunday, there is no way I am driving back Saturday, I intend having a good time.
I’ve grown quite fond of the chicane now, after learning how to to navigate it properly. When you get it right, you can make up so much time on people, and the drive is actually very safe and good fun! The trick is to ride into the section as if you’re leaving the track via the slip-road, then turn in ultra late, square it off and touch the left rumble strip, then square it off again and clip the apex of the second corner, this means you’re as upright as you’re going to get, and you can drive out in first gear under very near max power straight away, with minimal risk of a high-side.
Do it wrong and you end up coming out on a big curve, where you can’t put down any power and risk a high-side.
Cheers for the info peeps. All data logged in my brain. Looking forward to it, just a shame I shall be doing it on the SV and not something a little more suitable.
You’ll be fine, just don’t use the brakes very often and you’ll be up there with the best of them
It’s a real late-brakers circuit, the back straight takes a fair bit of bottle I think to ride into hard, also Bridge is exceptionally fast, don’t back off!
Man this sounds like a right blast… We are planning on visiting Cadwell with Focused Events in August ‘Dawn till Dusk’ but this seems to be ages away.
I really want to do Silverstone International but the majority of the track days seem to be on the GP circuit. Flat out round copse sounds like a challenge. - Plus me old dear lives next door to Silverstone so I can stay the night and get lashed after blasting round the track.
Looking for dates on 100% and Focused Events. - Any other recommendations.
Hope to see you guys an track soon.
Stan, check out:

They have a listing of all of the trackdays in the UK, very useful! Yeah, I see that the International isn’t used much, which is a shame, but the GP circuit is by no means a bad one, it’s just a personal preference after having done the GP a number of times, either way, there’s a great time to be had.
Cheers Jay.
Just had a look at your Brands pictures and noticed a fair few novices. Do you get many novices on evening events, not sure what the deal was with first timers when they only run 2 groups Inters and Fast.
If I can go straight into Inters then I’m gonna book one, only 69 quid as well.
You can go in whatever group you like, but it’s best to go in Novice to start with, it’s not a reflection on your ability as a rider, just your experience as a track rider. When you’re making adequate progress, you’ll be moved up a group by one of the instructors. It helps other people on track to have everyone in the right group.
I think perhaps evening sessions do attract more novices, yes, as they’re more accessible and not quite so commital. Maybe a whole day puts off some people.
Cheers Rod, Gives me a good idea of what goes on in each group. Just got to book a day now.
