Sick Nexus

Over the las few days i have had starting problems on my bike, so this morining i took it to my dealer to see what the computer said was wrong with it. The computer said faulty throttle body which they replaced and took 4 hours, when every this was put back to test we still had the same problem so we now think its the wiring loom which has a broken cable or knacard, which might mean a new loom. Im lucky that the bike is still under warrenty as it wont cost me a penny.

They have given me a new X8 400 until my bike is back on the road. But with all these problems i`m thinking that my next bike will have to be jap as they are suppose to be reliable.

So not a happy bunny here.

Got a shinny new T-Max in my showroom - see you buy the cheap stuff, realize why its cheap - and then come to the Jap side!!! (expensive lesson - those nexus’s lose loads of money)

Is the T-max the new 2008 model, how much part-ex for my 14000 mile 2006 Nexus.

I’ll have a look tomorrow at your value, its the 07 t-max - but i am due one of the first 08 one’s in the country!(if their not already at swindon!)

If you can give me a price on the 07 and the 08 T-max that would be great.

God you’re fickle! Your Italian built machine has only been off the road three times since August with component faults and you give up on her already!

My last bike was Italian and that gave me problems aswell, so i am now fed up with Italian bikes. I need something reliable as i ride all year round and i think the way to go is jap.

I know you have had problems, as have several other Nexus owners recently, but they are made by the same people as my last three bikes and in four years I have had one speedo cable and one battery needing replacment on bikes I bought new, and one switch, one fuel tank sender and a battery replaced on my present bike which is three years old and high mileage. Al lthree were fixed by the Italian dealer who sold me the machine.

Jackie’s bike which is four years old has had one switch and rear forks replaced, needed a new digidash which is a known problem on early X9s, and a battery problem caused by a dealer’s faulty PDI - NB that dealer is now a Yamaha dealer. Apart from the digidash fault, and the replacement switches (under £7 and five minutes fitting each) all our problems have been caused by wear and tear or poor maintenance by dealers and not due to poor quality parts or poor design.

However, my next bike might very well be Yamaha!

BTW, I thought you were buying a Mana?

My bike has had maufactures problems 3 times since August which to me isn`t reliable enough for me seeing i ride everyday. So the Honda Silverwing or the Yamaha T-max are my next choices.

Got my bike back, it was a chaffed wire which caused all the trouble, typical italian electrics. The bike has been all sorted and remapped and now runs like a dream untill the next problem.
I am thinking on getting a jap bike but have to work money out first and how can give me the best price for my bike.
But at the moment i am happy again.

Poxy piece of italian crap is playing up again, this time a sender from the battery charger needs changing and a new battery.
After this three can`t be anything else to change on the electrics.

think ya due a change mate, too many niggly things going wrong with it.

I’d heard that italian bikes can be problematic in the rain and in general with the electrics. But from what you are saying it worse :frowning:

Feel for ya, but I bask in the smug glow of owning a jap bike. Having done16K in 18 months the only problem I had was bubbling on the clutch cover.

Hopefully it will all get sorted soon.

Steve if i had the money to buy another bike i would of.

thought you had the dosh john as you were looking at the max, thats the prob I got at moment lack of cash still when I win the lottery lol

If i didn`t moe house i could aford to by the new bike no worries, but bigger house means biiger bills so no spare cash around at the moment.

I was told that it`s the stater which needs replaceing and not the sender. Does anyone know what a stater is.

the stator coils inside your alternator, you should be able to change them yourself mate

Im not touching it as its under warrenty so the dealer does everything for nothing.

Got my bike fixed today with a new stater and a voltage regulator fitted and now runs like a dream.
It took the mechanic 5 hours to do.
