'Show plates' or small plates

A mate heard this from a dealership up north at the weekend that apparently as of 1st Nov 2008 the sale or supply of ‘show plates’ is going to be banned. No longer will they be able to make them with the excuse of ‘not for road use’.

Anyone heard about this???

If this is true, better get in quick if you need one, or a spare.

Or get out the hacksaw

nothing heard about the ban. I thought it was already illegal

currently, the onus is on the owner of the vehicle to ensure that his/her plate is legal, with the risk of a £30 fine if not. A RNPS can be fined £1000 for supplying a legal plate, without having seen the correct documentation.

As of Nov 1st 2008, an RNPS can be fined (i’m not sure how much) for supplying a ‘show plate’.

DVLA havent yet sent me the full details. Actually, they probably have! i just havent updated my address on the RNPS list yet!

Thats what the internet is for, so you can order them from outside the UK.

Sounds like the sort of borrocks that’s rife in this country now.

I used to buy backgrounds and letters/numerals to make up temporary trailer plates. Never quite legal but pretty close.

The shop I used to buy them from no longer sells them. “To risky mate” was the explanation.

Tinternet is the way ahead then, i belive the IOM has no specific rulings on plate size, so i get mine from a company there.
job done

Same ****** as with tinted visors just buy them online, which most of us do anyway so don’t really see an issue developing.

Anyone wanna start a business in Guernsey?
