Should there be a classic bike section?

I might be getting a bit more involved with the oldie bikes so thought this might be useful… plus its ageist not to have it on! All those poor bikies! :stuck_out_tongue:

If you want to get into oldies on bikes gis a shout;):P:D

xxx :hehe:

Is that oldies on bikes or old bikes?

If it’s the latter you will find yourself talking to some very strange, quite nice, just strange, people. The sort who’s other hobby is Morris Dancing.

If it’s oldies on bikes you’ll just find a few paid up members of the Peter Pan Club. Almost as strange.

Ah. Hang on a minute, do you define old bikes as 2003 reg?

No mate, Im talking Norton, Enfield, BSA, Royal Enfield, Sunbeam, Triumph oldies etc

Careful there;)

There’s quite a few classic Jap machines about too you know;)

:w00t::cool::hehe:

Well chunks is old and strange…just cant see him doing morris dancing

more votes please!

Oh yes please, don’t think i will ever buy an ‘older’ bike again myself but you can get loads of good tips and info from the oldies which apply to newer bikes.
I just have some objection to the term ‘classic’ my last bike before the zephyr was a yam xs1100 ,apparently a classic bike :w00t::w00t::w00t:
and the list could go on, …bsa barracuda :w00t: norton jubilee :w00t: honda cx500 :w00t: just some of the dogs i have paid good [ish] money for in the past which certainly were devoid of any class.
But you don’t need to be classy to give a good ride:P

So maybe just an oldie section ?

Is “classic” the most abused term when applied to machinery?

I reckon it rates alongside the “one careful lady vicar owner, chauffer driven since new” balls.

On balance “Old” is a good title and I think a section for that would be fine.

I guess you’ll soon find out from the feeds whether you have opened the gates of hell or an interesting forum.

Ground rules? VMCC use 25 years as their bench mark.

What about the old Japs

The CBX1000’s, the 400/4’s, the Fs1E’s any of the RD’s

I like the old japs and am often at Classic Bike Shows and autojumbles

How comes one post gets double billing?

Sorry folks. Don’t know what happened there.

Only 14 votes :ermm:

be a good section, just where are you going to have the cut off age wise ? personaly I think nothing newer than the 1980’s should be allowed in, which means my fizzer can go in as its an 89 one

It seems from votes to date, a section for older bikes would be popular. Think a pre 1990 date would be a fair start point. I have a '81 Kawa z750, so one of my bikes would be covered. Gets my vote.!

some clubs say minimum 15 years, others minimum 25 years.

Is there not an international minimum age?

Stone me! Where’s this thread been hiding for the past 4 months?

The logical cut off/qualifying date is 25 years old. Bike, not person, silly.

Works for the Vintage MCC.

Though a few old VMCC buffers had near heart attacks when a friend turned up to a meet on a Honda 250 Dream back in the 80’s

So there you go, Classic Motorcycle section for bikes older than 25 years.

At least the Fanny B i’m bidding on on fleabay would qualify :stuck_out_tongue:
