Shineray XY250GY-2… Chinese bike imported by Zing Bikes (who also import Lifan and HMC).
I first saw one of these a couple of years ago at a small reputable bike dealer in Scotland. Looked the part, and decent quality, but price was £2700 on-the-road which was WAY too steep for an unknown Chinese bike for me.
My brother was getting his Pulse serviced today, and rang me to say that the owner of the business has a 3-year old one of these (11-plate) coming in in 2 weeks as a trade-in. The dealer sold it new, and it’s now got 8k miles on the clock and is supposedly in decent nick. He’s going to sell it on for £1,000.
My brother asked him about the parts situation and dealer response was no probs, as the importer (Zing) has never caused him any issues in this respect (though ChineseMotorcyclePartsOnline don’t seem to stock anything for this bike, only for the 125 version, so I’d be reliant on Zing). I also know that this dealer runs a couple of these as courtesy bikes and although they look a bit rough due to winter use and lack of cleaning, they still run well.
Looks like a fun bike for a spot of green-laning, but… Opinions please… Would it be absolute knobishness to take a £1k punt on this?
