I’ve got a 13 foot x 8 foot wooden shed with double doors that currently houses our two bikes (His 'n Hers). I’ve just measured up and I have just got room for a nice little quad bike if the pennies will stretch BUT the insurance company want me to beef up the security by adding a Thatcham Approved Ground Anchor, Thatcham Approved Chain and Thatcham Approved Lock. They are also recommending some sort of external shed security cos you could quite easily
Does anyone have any low cost recommendations to keep the thieving little b*stards out?
Why not adopt a Tiger from your local safari park and keep it chained up next to the bikes. Great security and you’d look the bllx walking it in the local park.
Just make sure it’s not a white one or you’ll look a bit Sigfreid and Roy
The blokey wot sold me my Almax chain (absolutely the dog’s) had some very useful points to make about ground anchors. If you just use the sort of concrete that will do for a path, then it would be easier for the thieving scum to just take a hammer to the path and get a ground anchor out that way. Better would be to get a square water butt and some reinforcing rods, fill the thing with concrete and set your ground anchor into that instead. Bloody heavy and much more difficult to break than an inch-thick ancient concrete path. And if you set the ground anchor up a bit rather than near the floor it’s; a) easier to get to to lock your bike, and b) more difficult for a bad person to get leverage to try to break the lock.
