Started a policy with them for about £200 in February. Just cancelled the policy as I sold the bike and the refund is only twenty quid!
Ouch. I asked for a notional quote for a different bike and it was only twenty quid difference but they wanted £50 admin fee.
Never ever going to use them again.
(I know, read the small print etc, but bloody hell.)

I think you have been done there. I’d ask them to give me a reason why you only get £20!! And it should ready admin fee upto £50

I renewed my policy with Bikesure at the end of March, so 3.5 weeks ago, for £190 inc breakdown and helmet & leathers etc… I’m looking to change bikes so called them yesterday and asked them how much I’d get refunded if I cancelled the policy. Their response… £9.47 !!! WTF !!!
When I ‘had a bit of a go’ she went off to call the underwriters (Trinity Lane) who said they could do a pro-rata cancellation instead, which means I’d get £21.92. Still WTF!!!
That includes Bikesure’s £25 cancellation/admin fee. The first price was based on Trinity Lane’s standard 25% fee as I had been with them for up to 1 month. The policy itself was only £85 but the breakdown, personal accident, and helmet & leathers has to be cancelled at the same time (I can’t transfer them to a different bike if I cancel the insurance) and there’s NO REFUND WHATSOEVER on add-ons!!!
What a total bunch of crooks!!!
Yeah, I had a similar breakdown of add-ons.
read the t&c’s before taking out the policy and you wont feel like youve been ‘done’. on numerous occasions they’ve reduced mine to £35 when i pointed out their t&c’s say upto £50

So any recommendations for Insurance Co’s that won’t screw you over? Last time I cancelled a policy it was with Bennetts, and they did alright by me. Meant that when I bought my next bike, I went back to them even though they weren’t the cheapest, however from reading a post on here a while ago, it seems some LB’ers regard them as the devil incarnate.
Unfortunately, when dealing with Insurance companies they are nothing short of “legalised” criminals. For some reason motorcycle insurance is worse than car insurance companies, but only just. You can shop around but you will find they all over charge for cancelling a policy. I had Swickton charge me £40 because I cancelled a policy 3 days BEFORE it was to commence and the fault was because they could not deliver the details in time for me to license a new bike, although I had given them 14 days notice. I got the ombudsmen on to them and eventually received a full refund… But you will find some one has a bad story to tell about every current bike insurance company/broker…
