London - 7th July 2005
The text message came through ‘Hope your Ok’
I was asleep in bed the morning that day
The next text said ‘Glad you’re tucked up safe in bed’
Suddenly the word BOMB jumped into my head
----- 7/7 -----
On with the news so that I could see
The destruction of life, live on tv
I was soon off to work to help out my mates
London’s people now knocking on heaven’s gates.
----- 7/7 -----
We worked day and night ‘free pizzas for all’
Bodies laid out and blood on the walls
Fire, police and ambulance crew
Back into the fray to do what they had to do
----- 7/7 -----
A few hours later we all stood around
Contemplating the hell above and below ground
Soon our part is over but not in our heads
We all head off home and back to our beds
----- 7/7 -----
A few weeks later the badges are out
To remember the day that we all heard the shout
It says ‘pride of London’ and gives you the day
It says ‘pride of London’, what more could it say?
written for those that were there… we wont forget .
