Trouble is dealers smell blood at this time of year because it’s getting near the end of the bike selling season and they are afraid they won’t shift it until next spring…
So they may offer a silly price (say £3000 to £3500 max).
It’s worth trying them though - you never know…
As a rough example there is a CBR600RR-7 on ebay Auction now with a day to go currently at £4k
I would watch this ad to see what real prices these are fetching at the moment,
Ebay auctioning it may be your best bet to sell quickly but I doubt you’ll get £4995 - classified and reserve auctions would be a waste of time because its’s too inflexible and your ad could sit there forever with no one biting.
Cheers for the advice guysWasn’t really expecting to get £4,995 for the bike but thought it was a good starting point. I’m pretty flexible on the price tbh, and that’s why I am considering selling it to a dealer.
Will put it on biketrader for a lower asking price for the time being.
In terms of ebay, I’m not registered so I’m not sure how not having a ‘seller’s history’ (once registered) will impact the sale.
Seller’s history shouldn’t greatly impact the sale since the buyer will be collecting the bike and not waiting for you to “dispacth the goods” so don’t get hung up on the stats.
Just register (10mins) and spend some time/thought into your listing with loads of photos, clearly state that this is the first time on ebay but you are not new to bikes etc… and you have come on ebay just to sell your bike swiftly.
If you really want to be pro-active, clean your bike up and spend a day or two visiting dealers to see if they fancy buying your bike. If you speak loudly (I’m punjabi so that comes naturally I’m afraid) then you may find that some of the dealer’s customers may take interest in your bike. Right place and right time etc…
Here is a list for you to exhaust (not sure of the accuracy of the list):
I’m sure the LB community will give some feedback of their experiences with the above dealers - and point out which ones cease to exist. I have not mentioned the dreaded Metropolis Motorcycles as no one would put a fellow biker through such pain.
My parting shot … stick to your guns on the price you think is fair. I once sold a car for a bargain price after no interest in it for over 2 months and once it was gone I had people on the phone willing to pay me full asking price day after day for a week or so - if only I had held my nerve and stuck it out. Some one will buy your bike for the price you want to sell it as long as you are being reasonable. Stay strong and you shall succeed
Good luck and if my advice works out then you can shout me a beverage at the Ace or BMM
