I’ll be riding in to Soho every day from SE london soon, my bike doesn’t have an imobilizer or alarm and I’ll probably be parking it in a bay on the street where there will probably be nowhere to chain it up.
I just wondered if anyone could recommend what kind of security products I should get - pros and cons, etc?
I was planning on just getting 2 half-decent disk locks (recommendations appreciated :)) as I’ve heard that alarms aren’t necessarily that good (i.e. I won’t hear it from my office and it will just make my battery go flat) and I’ve also heard that if someone wants to nick your bike badly enough they’ll just pick it up and stick it in a van - so it seems if I can’t chain it up, then an alarm/imobilizer would be pretty pointless in this scenario anyway.
Thanks for the suggestions, I’m pretty sure I won’t have anything to chain it to though. The parking bays where I will be parking don’t have anything to chain a bike to. Can anyone recommend a decent disk lock? Are the disk locks with alarms built in any good?
My work mate parks his FZ1 in the same area and he’s already signed up, so I’ll sign up and we can at least chain our bikes up together whenever possible.
+1 Carry a laminated note with you and chain your chain to another chain. Put the note there just incase the other bike leaves so that when another rider comes along, they will see the note and chin their chain to yours. It’s a gr8 idea using “locktolock” but not many know about it hence the note.
