Secure Motorbike Storage

Hi folks, we are looking at offering secure motorbike storage facilities as part of our business. Would be mainly aimed at over winter and for race/track day bikes storage. I would be in a secure NW london location with the usual cctv, alarm etc along with heating, ventalation and trickle charging. Would this be of interest to people and how much would you be willing to pay.

All comments welcome.

:Whistling: bump!

wow if you sort one out in South West London too I would definitely look into it because even a ground anchor and Almax won’t let me sleep!

If I didn’t have my own garage this is a facility I would seriously consider.

I would want to know that my battery was hooked up to an optimiser, bike is covered (to keep her warm and clean) and up on paddock stands if there for the whole winter.

I think you may have to research beyond the cynical and tight wads. (That will be beyond LB then.)

Damned good business idea though.

Is petrol in the tank going to be an issue?

been looking for this for ages, would love it - am used to this from Switzerland, you bring your bike (they take your licence plates to the vehicle registration place and you don’t pay insurance while the bike is off the road), they look after your bike and check it out and polish it before you come and pick it up in the spring - I would love it

but as everything in life I suppose it would depend on the charges

I’m lucky enough to have a garage and ride all year anyway.

Personally I would feel uncomfortable not having my bike near me but I think many wouldn’t mind and it could be a success.

Good luck with it.

The ‘plan’ is to use one of our insulated shipping containers, weld in eye bolts 1 m up the wall for chains have some sort of heating to keep the damp away and provide battery conditioners and paddock stands. etc

Our location is very secure already with cctv, swipe carded gates etc and insurance overall is not a problem.

What ya think?

Might also do cars, trailers etc

Excatly what we are thinking of

Up to a point, car, trailers and caravans are pretty well catered for. Bikes are the forgotten sector and you could do well on those as you can get more customers into the given space.

Shipping containers are cr*p. Unless you do heavy mods. the proportions are all wrong for bikes. You’d need to make them side loading to get the best out of them. They are also real bu88ers for condensation. They need that conflict of heating and ventilation to avoid that.

Got to be better (more suitable) secure units than that out there.
