ok, do you think the most common screen resolution is still 800 X 600 or is it more likely to be 1024 X 768 nowadays?

Generally speaking the most common resolution is 1024 x 768 nowadays, with 1280 x 1024 not a million miles behind in popularity. A few years ago 800 x 600 would have been the common size, but not any more, monitors are getting bigger and cheaper.
**edit: these figures are based upon the logs of LB.com and other sites I work on.
Something I’ve not really thought about, just checked mine. I,m running 1280x1024 on standard screen
and 1280x800 on the laptop.
