Rukka vs Hein Gericke

Hi all,

I’m slowly upgrading all my bike kit to be the best I can afford (or can starve myself to buy !!)

Got a top spec lid, gloves and boots just need a decent suit now.

I was almost certainly going to buy the Rev’it GTX Everest suit but with it not being delivered until March I started looking elsewhere. I’m now torn between a Rukka Armarina suit or the Hein Gericke Master V suit. I could of course look at other Rukka Pro Shell but obvious choice is to go for the women’s one. They’re around the same sort of price and both have 5 year warranties.

Both are Pro Shell which is what I want, Performance Shell is great but I just don’t like the weight and cold feel you get in a downpour. I work in the industry so will get a fair discount anyway but still need to be careful what I spend my hard earned cash on.

Anyone got any ideas/reviews? Or even cheaper equivalents?

Ta,

Nat

Rukka’s warranty is first class.

This is a good offer:-

if you’re looking at Rukka gear get it direct from Germany. You’ll save a fortune. I bought some Armas trousers before christmas…£700 in the UK £450 from www.louis.de. It’s exactly the same for the daytona boots I bought as well and the schuberth (I think I’m becoming a German judging by all the gear and the bike I ride). :stuck_out_tongue:

Any VAT or Duty to pay?

Sent an E-mail to Bikerland in germany today, another excuse to do the B500 and go shopping some time this year me thinks.:w00t::smiley:

Big savings that for sure;)

love reading that reply rob!

great tip didnt know it was cheaper over there, i must owner a pair of daytona boots in my lifetime, ive promised myself!

BMW’s Street guard is very good stuff, expensive but never heard a bad thing about it…

Worth every penny

+1 - good man :DLook forward to signing up to your Euro trip next summer Rob

no, and postage is only EUR10 not matter how much they send plus you get full tracking of it. Best thing to do is sign up to Louis and they occasionally send out 20% off vouchers redeemable on just one item. Each time they’ve done it I’ve bought the trousers/schuberth/daytonas (over 6 months) so not only are you saving on a good price (because you’re buying german products direct from germany) you’re also getting an additional 20% off.

I’ve not tried HG stuff, but I have a Rukka jacket and trousers and they’re brilliant. My hands and feet turn to ice, but my body has never been too hot or too cold in their gear. It also feels very safe.

Only paid £50 for the full set (second hand from a bike retiree!)!

I’m treating myself to full new kit at the moment.

Already got the Shoei Hornet in black and Orange and a pair of Sidi’s new Adventure boot.

Decided to go for the Rukka ArmaS Jacket and trousers but buying them from Biker-Land in Germany as they are giving a good deal on getting both together.

Almost all goods crossing EU borders from sellers to buyers don’t incure VAT or duties unless the items are for resale. The only exception is where the local taxes and duties have not been charged by the seller. So for example, if you buy bike gear from Germany, the German VAT will have been included in the German price quoted and VAT will not be dure twice. If it is sold ex-VAT then VAT will be due on arrival in the UK.

I will recommend the HG Master V suit.

Had it for two years and only had slight leak in heavy downpour near “inner” elbow area.

This was sorted by cleaning and re-proofing.

Top kit…

Adam

I have Rukka jacket and trousers. On both items the zip pull has broken and it is alomost impossible to use the zip without a pull. The 5 year warranty is not much use if you have to send the item back in the midwinter for something as silly as a zip pull.

The HG stuff I have had has ben good quality so I would go for that next time.

You mean the little tag came came off? Mine have worn through on the the little D that goes through the actual zip itself. It was replaced in the shop.

" this is a local shop for loacal people…" lol

well i have the BERING laminate Goretex 2 pc suit, its the austral jacket and trousers, at £270 for the jacket, and £170 for the trousers i thought these were a really good buy. Ive had them for the 3rd year now and they have seen 2 of the coldest winters so far. Ive always been toastywarm in this kit, but now its getting a bit worn, so will consider getting the same again, or perhaps hein gerike.
