Rucksack Recommendations

I will be moving about 50 miles or so outside of London in a couple of month’s time. The commute will be by bike every day and some days I will want to take my laptop to/from the office but not use the Givi box.

Can anyone recommend a comfortable, lightweight, reasonably water resistant (I know there’s no such thing as waterproof, before you all start!) and quite small (it’s a small laptop) rucksack for everyday use?

It also needs to be good for motorway speeds, with no flapping about or too much drag.

A quick search on t’interweb found the following link, but I’m slightly afraid I’d look at total knob!

All opinions are appreciated…

funny you mention that as i got an eastpak core rucksack from ibiza airport. you’ll be able to get em online though. it’s excellent. laptop compartment, loads of zipped pockets, tie down straps on the side to keep it nice and flat plus one of them straps that goes from arm strap to arm strap across your chest. well happy with it.

I have a Kriega R35. Ticks all the boxes re weight distribution, durability and weather protection. The rucksack itself is fairly (not completely) waterproof but it comes with a separate inner pouch, easily big enough for a laptop, which is completely waterproof.

Not cheap but you get what you pay for.

Another vote for Kriega…

Best bike rucksack I’ve ever used.

I have the R25 and it fits my laptop and loads more. I think they do a smaller (R20) version as well. Can’t beat them for quality. Mine did stay waterproof over the last few days in London weather, but you can also get the inner 100% waterproof bag for them (as above).

Just looked…they also do a 15 Litre now:

Kriega Products

Kriega R35. I use it to carry shed-loads of stuff, normally always with my laptop in (in a laptop sleeve) with other electricals. It’s proper weather proof as well (when combined with the inner bag).

I tried some on in a bike shop and they didn’t fit around the waist! Is there any rucksacks with extendable waist straps? My lowpro trekker has them, so there’s goto be a version for bikers…?

Just want it for general use, like holding inner lining of trousers etc

yep kriega once again, u’d be surprised how much you can get in a small bag and they are adjustable too.

Kriega here as well - Got the R35, excellent and even well loaded right up, hardly notice the weight
Go the tail packs as well, very useful and easy to use

Thanks everyone - unless I hear different by Monday, it looks like Kriega have just sold another rucksack!

How many sections and pockets does the Kriega have?

Does it take a laptop as well as a change of clothes?

What if I needed to take shoes?

The Kriega has the extra pouch that can clip onto it, doesn’t it?

This months ride magazine has a review on rucksacks-they review about 12 so might be worth having a look at that.
